I'm a real newbie at this scanner stuff, so I was hoping someone might be able to help me out in plain English.

I understand that Stamford fairly recently changed their radio system. Last year I bought a GRE PSR-300 and was happily listening to Stamford police, etc. Obviously since things have changed I can't hear anything. Here's my question...

With my radio, is it possible to hear Stamford police at all now? Is it possible to hear them with ANY radio due to encryption?

Thanks for any help.

In a word- no

No, it's not. There are some Fire/Rescue simulcasts, but Polics is encrypted.

Check out scanct.com for further

It is not possible to follow police on even the highest end systems because of the encryption.

It is a violation of FCC rules (and I believe a federal offense) to decrypt audio that is encrypted.

Fire/EMS dispatch can still be heard on 154.130
The only thing that can be monitored on the trnk system is the non-public safety stuff like DPW, Housing, etc.
