Standard/Vertex GX5800T proggramming mode

Does anyone know how to get the Standard/Vertex GX 5800T radio into proggramming mode so I can program it? The software says to hold the phone button while turning on the radio. But when I do that the radio doesn't do anything. If i just turn on the radio without pressing any buttons, it says "NO DATA", when i hold the phone button and turn it on, it still just says "NO DATA". Does anyone know what the problem is?
