MarcusDude,

Thank you so much for your reply. Originally I was just sort of wondering if people in Wisconsin were now using VCALL10 instead of WISPERN/VLAW31, but I thought I would open it up to the other channels as well.

I do find the differences in PL tones interesting. I recall reading some year back that Wisconsin had gone to programming one WISPERN channel as carrier squelch and another with the PL tone.

Have you heard the UCALL and UTACs in analog with PL tone or have you heard them P25 with a NAC code? To the best of my knowledge, those are not being used here in Minnesota for mutual aid.

As a side note, even though I live in Minnesota, I live not all that far from the border of Wisconsin and travel through a few times a year.

Over the years it has seemed like Wisconsin was ahead of Minnesota with regards to radio interoperability planning. I recall your agencies getting MARC channels year ago and having Point To Point in the vehicles, but Minnesota had neither of those.

Jim

The thing with 155.475 being WISPERN (CSQ) and WISPERN-T (PL 156.7) was a few years ago, during the transition. WISPERN-T is now called VLAW31, and 155.47500 CSQ is only used in counties along the state line.

This summer, I was living in the Fox Cities (East Central WI), and I heard 453.46250 being used both analog (PL 156.7) and P25 (NAC 293) and it was refered to as "UTAC41".

VLAW31 and Point are in all Law/Fire/EMS Radios (scan too) up in Northern Wisconsin. VLAW31 is used heavily up here as a Tac channel or "Car to Car" type channel. I don't think I've ever heard VCALL10 used (besides radio testing) up here. Point is used comm center to comm center, however, some out of county squads that don't have our freqs will use it to contact dispatch (such as prisoner transport).

VLAW31 is still referred as WISPERN up here--although it is listed in radios as VLAW31
