This morning around 1:30 I monitored Stanislaus County Fire Dispatch on 153.770 say "testing 800 megahertz" about 3 times. I was wondering if anyone knows if Stanislaus County has an 800 system going on line that may be patched to 153.770 or if the dispatcher may have been testing the Ceres or Turlock system and keyed up on 153.770 "also possibly patched". They were working a 2 alarm fire in Patterson and dispatched mutual aid from Ceres shortly after the testing so it is possible that dispatch had patched 153.770 to the Ceres 800 system and was testing the patch prior to dispatching Ceres Fire. Although if I were a firefighter from Patterson I would hate to think that dispatch would test a radio system before getting me help :).

I'm not finding any pending applications or any expired licenses for Stanislaus County on 800 mHz. All I see are the two conventional frequency pairs:

857(/812).4875 - 75-watts ERP Base on Mt Oso, whose contact is given as "Stanislaus Regional 9-1-1 Center"
and
857(/812).2125 - 80-watts ERP repeater, "11.7 mi west of Patterson" with "Assistant Sheriff" on the license. That freq is also licensed to the City of Sacramento, City of South San Francisco, and American Ambulance & Sick Room Supply in Fresno, all of whom concurred with Stanislaus' application back in 2003.

The Ceres 800MHz trunked system is used only by Ceres police. Ceres fire is on the conventional system with all the other county fire depts. By the way, when I listen to 153.77 I can only hear the dispatcher. Instead I have 453.525 programed in my scanners. The mobiles are repeated on this frequency. Come to think of it, I should submit that frequency to the database since it isn't in there.

I thought the Ceres system was integrated with Turlock and Gustine (Turlock does the dispatching for both agencies). Will investigate further and report back later in the weekend.

(not close enough to get the control channel from here, but will be over the weekend)

As far as I knew, Ceres has their own dispatch. I went to a communications school with one of them and that was only a couple years ago.

Sorry for the delay..

Ceres does have their own dispatch now, on a two channel motorola trunking system. There was a brief period of time where they were being dispatched out of Turlock when this system was being put in place.

(Thats what I get for opening my mouth too soon)..

Forgive my ignorance, but if Motorola systems require at least one data channel, what's the point of a two channel Moto trunking system?

Well I'm pretty sure they have always had their own. In 2000 or 2001, they were re-doing their comm center and were temp dispatching from Modesto. Is that what your talking about? I can't hear them anymore since they went 800. I think 158.805 or something like that before??
