During the storms last week I heard the NWS DM office on the Racom system talking to Polk County. The tag my scanner showed was "Star 6". Just thought I would pass this along. . .

My guess is that is a link on the racom system to the Micron Network on the Story County EE Trunk. If you listen to Westcom, you will also hear the same thing on Fire Ops 2 i believe it is.

You are correct....When the weather get's bad arouind the des moines area, each agency will link or "Patch" NWS Micron so their officers can listen. I know here in DSM we often will use Ch. 4 or one of the TAC channels to patch micron into it. Each radio consol up in dispatch has the micron on their radio screen and all they need to do is click on it and then patch it to whatever of our channels they want, like I said, usually Ch. 4 if it is not already tied up, or they will also use TAC 7 as well.
