New to GPS location base scanning how does it work with a 996p2 ( ive read the sites) Do i add the entire starcom system and enable GPS on all the sites and they will turn on and off when i get in the selected range? I am using proscan and RR database import feature so all the long and lates with the miles are set.

Make sure you have center points loaded in the Sites and Groups. Set the ranges appropriately and make sure GPS is enabled in the Systems.
When I lived in Illinois I had XT files for the entire state. Since the radio was limited in how many talkgroups in a System I had 3 Systems, N, C and S. I left the System set to Trunked Search so I could hear any traffic on the system. At the time it was mostly just state agencies then so that worked well for me.
