I've heard troopers and dispatchers call the Southwest talkgroup "5A" several times. Are all of the talkgroups labeled the "same" in the radios?
I don't know if all the radios in all the cars have been programmed properly, but have noticed Utility cars and some of the Troop 15 cars working in Troop 3 still have the old programming structure. I've also noticed some of the telecommunicators slip up and call out "District-Chicago" and the next time call it Troop 3, so there's still that going on:
3-A | - | 9005 |
3-North | - | 9002 |
3-Middle | - | 9007 |
3-Southwest | - | 9013 |
3-South | - | 9008 |
3 Car-to-Car | - | 9067 |
3-ISPERN | - | 9051 |
3 (DC-B) | - | 9006 |
3 (B-05) | - | 9014 |
3 (SW Car-to-Car) | - | 9068 |
Troop 3 Telecommunicators have referenced to "let me check the chart" when asked about channel assignments if a trooper's radio is reprogrammed and they're told to switch to an "old" channel". I would guess the troopers have something similar with them, or because it's been 9 months, they've stopped asking and figured it out.
A good example of this is TGID 9014 that's currently being used for a traffic detail. When a TC is asked (and depending on who it is) "what channel is the detail on", it's been referred to as "5-B", "B-5" and "B-05". Some of the conversations that I've previously posted were heard, and when a Master Sergeant told a TC, "our radios are all reprogrammed on this detail and it's B-05 on our radios now" would be a good indication of the reprogrammed radio channels text tags.
I've also been hearing frequent "cross troop" training between Troops 3 & 15. I'd suspect this might have something to do with what has been posted on here about Troop 15 being disbanded and Troop 3 taking over patrols on the Tollways. I could see Troop 15 being "slotted in" to the Troop 3 call signs since 3-277 through 3-399 has not been used with the Probationary Troopers. In addition, they have many "gaps" of unassigned radio call signs in between too. This is just speculation on my part, and time will tell how close I am.
