Apparently Motorola has told the county that they will no longer be able to service the system after the end of 2018.

The attached letter above discusses the proposed Criminal Justice sales tax increase and how it will cover the radio upgrades, if they go with MARCS or the more expensive option of replacing the current county system.

Listening online to the OSU incident showed a nearly complete lack of inter-operability. Possible - but no one seemed to know how.

The system and radios are completely interoperable; what you heard was poor comprehension and training. Many people still can't get past the mentality of using only one or two channels (or talkgroups) and when faced with a situation requiring more flexibility, they fall back to what's familiar.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. . .

Tom - agree completely.

But one sees this mentioned over and over and never (seemingly) implemented in the field.

No idea if Cleveland or Cinci areas do any better or not. Recently here in Zanesville they could not get OSP , SO and ZPD onto a common TG for an minor incident.

Interoperability is a mindset issue, not a technical issue.

Exactly. I've been in this field over 30 years, and have yet to see the problem overcome completely.

Kind of discouraging, but it is what it is.
