I just wanted to let everyone know about an issue I had with ARC996 and downloading the newly rebanded Stark County system. When I downloaded the system from the radioreference database directly into the software, it failed to change the site system type to Motorola Type 2 800 Mhz Custom; however, after doing so manually, the custom band plan was entered correctly. I was able to recreate this error several times so I do not believe it is exclusive to me. ARCXT did the import flawlessly. I have yet to try it with ARC500.

Yes, Using the current WIN96 software 1.74, I was able to successfully download the latest Canton/Stark County database into WIN96 and then program both my Pro-96 and Pro-2096 scanners. It did set the Extended Trunking Tables correctly into WIN96. So far they are working just fine as far as I can tell.

It only shows 4 frequencies when I tried to do the web import? I have set the extended trunking tables and will try again.

It sounds like you have the import set to only import the control channels which is OK. There are now 15 frequencies which 4 of them are control channels. I did not have to manually set the extended trunking tables as it did it automatically for me.

I've not changed anything (yet) and I'm having no issues receiving the system on a Pro-106.
Confused?
Current CC is 868.4000 Site 2 @ 99%

I haven't made any changes in the settings, and it seems to be tracking normally. I'm still on the 868.4000 CC. I'm using the Pro-106 as well, and I'm a bit confused... I haven't been on here in a while.

If you don't make the rebanding changes, you will miss conversations. Voice channels changed but not the main control channel. You will miss conversations when the control channel directs your scanner to a "new" voice channel which your scanner cannot tune to without the custom trunking tables.

Do you need to do custom tables on PRO-106's or just the PRO2096/96's?

All scanners capable of rebanding, which includes both the PRO2096/96 and PRO197/106, need custom tables to function properly on rebanded systems. They can be entered manually or all versions of Butel software do it automatically when you download the trunked system from the RR database.

If it was re-banded, they would/should be using the lower frequencies for Control Channels.
I think they've always had and used the lower frequencies for voice channels, I think the key is where the CC is located.

Re-banding means licensees with channels between 866-869 MHz would move to equivalent channels between 851-854.

Ok I was able this morning to take my scanners side-by-side and lsiten.
I did custom tables in the Pro-106 and nothing to the BCD396t

I received equally on both scanners... until Stark changes their Control Channel to a lower one from the 866-868 ones you will not need custom tables yet.

And I'll go back and look at the licenses, it seems they have been issued for re-banding, Stark isn't using a new CC yet however. I think once they do, my current configuration should stop trunking until new CC's are programmed.

Sounds good, thanks for explaining. I don't listen as much as I have in the past, but my Pro-106 seemed to be tracking just fine.

Yes, when you lose the current 4 control channels, unless you have all the frequencies programmed, then you''l know. The table is not hard, I did mine manually. And it doesn't seem to affect anything one way or the other. but should be all set with new Control Channels when they become available.

P25 for Stark County

They keep updating the Ohio MARCS-IP: Multi-Agency Radio Communications (P25) for Stark County, who is going to be on this system? Has anyone purchased a scanner to listen to this?

This is the Ohio MARCS migration to the P25 platform, which will replace the current Type II / P25 CAI system. Some talkgroups MAY be using X2/TDMA modulation which can currently ONLY be monitored using a GRE PSR-800. I have the Stark sites programmed into my PSR-800 with wildcard and so far have not heard anything yet. The PSR-800 from GRE is in limited stock and is now offered for $699.95 from Scanner Master. I'm very impressed with the PSR-800 and it is the best scanner that I currently have and works perfect in the Stark county and surrounding areas.

GRE PSR-800

Are you able to program the GRE PSR-800 thru Radio Reference site like the Pro-2096? Does it take a different programming cable?
