Starrsoft data converter

I Just purchased a PRO-97, and downloaded a copy of Win 97.

I am wondering if Don Starr's Data Converter program will convert the data files for any of his programs (92, 93, 96, etc.) to work with the PRO-97. It would save me some typing!

I could be wrong here, but I think I read someplace that Don was not going to add any more conversions to his data converter, and instead have the ability to import/export csv files, which makes a lot of sense (lots of programs can read these, and you can copy/paste from Excel, too).

If you can't figure out how that works, Don is very easy to reach, as I understand it....

Actually, I ended up opening a Win 96 file and copying and pasting channel and talkgroup data into Win 97. No problems, and my PRO-97 was up and running fairly quickly

I'm in the same situation; I just picked up a pro-97 and have a really nice St Louis MO frequency file (win95 format) and am hoping to get to use it in Win97. (which I plan to get in the next week or so).

Did you lose any data or have to recreate due to different fields in the two programs?

No, I didn't loose any data. I just highlighted the frequencies, then copied and pasted them into Win 97, and the same thing with the talkgroups. The columns are laid out the same in both programs.

I emailed Don about that issue when I first got Win97. The current WinXX Data Converter does not support the Win97 format. Don also gave me the impression that it is not likely to be added.

When cutting and pasting between Win92 and Win97, I did experience some data loss, especially in the PL/DPL fields.
