Does anyone know when VSP's 5th Division (Chesapeake) is scheduled to go online with STARS? Now that I have loaded the new firmware into my BCD-396T, I am ready to listen. Previously, my reception of the Richmond STARS channels through the Williamsburg site was spotty. Since the "fix", it's great.

This is old but its about the closest thing I could find for that question. In the news on the STARS database page.

Virginia signed a contract with Motorola on July 16, 2004. The system acceptance schedule is as follows:
June 2006 - Division 1 Richmond
May 2008 - Division 5 Tidewater
July 2008 - Division 2 Culpeper
October 2008 - Division 7 Northern Virginia
April 2009 - Division 6 Salem
May 2009 - Divison 3 Appomattox
September 2009 - Division 4 Wytheville (final system acceptance)

That sure is a big gap in there, but then they roll out 3 divisions in '08 and 3 more in '09. That'll keep the techs busy!

I can ditto the '396 update too. The Fork Mtn tower comes in better and I was down in Louisa yesterday and it seemed to work great. I think Albemarle's multi-site simulcast system works a little better too.

Thanks Uniden!

Due to various technical difficulties/problems/issues STARS Div1 Richmond was not accepted June, 2006. My guess is that Div1 must be accepted before much else happens and all projected subsequent installation timelines will slip significantly.

I was talking to one of hte tower contractors that's doing most of Division 5 and it's running behind. Moto is having trouble finding good shops to do the work in Div 5 so a vendor from Richmond is going down to do most of it.
