Allen,

I had a very week copy about a month ago on site 9 (161.82500) from eastern Rockingham County, in my vehicle w/ an external. As I moved west, I no longer had the CC.

I know it's not much... but hope it helps anyway.

It's still good info. I don't why all these sites would be down when they're already knocking on the door of their deadline. But I'm sure that with this many people watching, we'll nail it soon.

IRP is always good to listen to. I am glad that Troop 6 is now on it and WV Turnpike is simulcasting also. I'll be glad if the day ever comes that I can quit putting conventional freq's in a receiver.

Hope your hunting trip went well...

There is a contract addendum requesting the final approval date be pushed back to December, 2010. If things don't start happening quickly they won't make that one either.

I sure wish there was a mole either at Moto or the Commonwealth that would let folks know what's really happening. All of FOIA exemption junk (including FCC correspondence) is a little over the top to me.

You're right, IRP really covers! I was picking it up no problem in Front Royal, and not bad in Culpeper.

Site 1-23 and 1-18 have been on the air since 0825 this morning. Several Div 4 TG's with traffic and coverage traffic on Radio Maint 7 between Lessburg and Point of Rocks.

I ran Pro96com on Site 18 CC of 152.5475. Got 151.025 has a Alt CC and 151.3475 as a frequency not a cc. I really think this is the Independent Hill Site. I drove around woodbridge today and got about 60-70% signal on my pro96.

Site 1-18 is Independent Hill as self-identified on Radio Maint. 7 TG. Coverage was good all the way up to Point of Rocks.

Site 1-08 is likely Hogback and site 1-09 is likely Pinnacle.

I heard comms 2 days ago on TG 3028. It was DOF units Caroline 2 and Hanover 7 talking to each other about normal DOF type stuff. They didn't call the channel by any names though.

Logged some more testing today via the Mt Weather site. On TG107 one tester called another calling the channel "AG South".
TG6384 on Independent Hill. Lots of comms, grid testing.
TG6158 on both

FYI TG 107 so far soley are STARS technician comms. This talkgroup previously has had several different names. "AG South" (Augusta South?) is a new one.

Guys, I have kind of lost touch with the STARS status. I am stuck in Lynchburg all week and a trip on Friday to the local RadioShack made me buy a new PRO-106 since they are running $100 off for a price of $399 right now.

I like the scanner, but the programming is a bit more involved than any other GRE/RS or Uniden I have ever owned. Even my 396D is easier. I am running the demo version of Don Starr's Win500 and I am starting to get the hang of it.

I am starting to load it up with STARS freqs, but after doing some reading I am wondering if I am going about it all wrong. I started by creating about 10 systems, a site per system. I also took the time to enter in ALL freqs for each site, not just the CCs only. I also put in the custom tables from the RR database page for STARS. Now I am wondering if I just need a single system with all of the primary/alt CCs. If this is the way to go I might tighten the squelch some some the scanner will be a little more picky when it can hear multiple CCs. Is this what most everyone is doing?

Is anyone else using a PRO-106 with STARS? What is the recommended way of doing things?

Too bad STARS isn't active in Lynchburg yet. I will have to wait until I get home (Eastern Shore) to really try it out. The analog EDACS mode works pretty well :)

I did the one system and put only CC\ALT CC and have had no problems, you dont need the custom table as the radio will fill in the tables after it gets a CC

I agree with Webodisk. And I think the more you play with it and understand it, the more you'll like the 106.

It took me a while to get STARS through my thick head. Here's what I have done with a whole lot of help from others here.

(1) Place STARS into a single scanlist. (2) Create multiple "TYS" objects assigned assigned to the STARS scanlist. Each TYS object can only hold 32(?) frequencies. Download the primary and alternate control channels. I think they will still fit into 2 TYS objects (less than 64 frequencies). (3) Download the TG's. Each TYS will need its own TG's. In other words you will not be able to assign a TG (VSP Richmond 1, for example) to more than 1 TYS.
