Guys, I have kind of lost touch with the STARS status. I am stuck in Lynchburg all week and a trip on Friday to the local RadioShack made me buy a new PRO-106 since they are running $100 off for a price of $399 right now.
I like the scanner, but the programming is a bit more involved than any other GRE/RS or Uniden I have ever owned. Even my 396D is easier. I am running the demo version of Don Starr's Win500 and I am starting to get the hang of it.
I am starting to load it up with STARS freqs, but after doing some reading I am wondering if I am going about it all wrong. I started by creating about 10 systems, a site per system. I also took the time to enter in ALL freqs for each site, not just the CCs only. I also put in the custom tables from the RR database page for STARS. Now I am wondering if I just need a single system with all of the primary/alt CCs. If this is the way to go I might tighten the squelch some some the scanner will be a little more picky when it can hear multiple CCs. Is this what most everyone is doing?
Is anyone else using a PRO-106 with STARS? What is the recommended way of doing things?
Too bad STARS isn't active in Lynchburg yet. I will have to wait until I get home (Eastern Shore) to really try it out. The analog EDACS mode works pretty well
