I have herd Wytheville before on my 106 while in culpeper I pick it up
But it never seems right to me becuase isnt Wytheville all theway downn near roanoke?
I live in fluvanna and never here it, but when I go up to Culpeper I pick it up
Im not realy sure how the State police operates, but that seems strange
...One of the STARS Wytheville TG's, 756, is used extensively for radio testing in Richmond. If a radio tech were on the road in your area and affiliated with a tower on this TG, you might hear quite a bit of traffic.
Might any of these scenarios fit your situation?

Most liklley Numbers 1 & 2, thanks for the info, I could never quite figure it out, signal was weak but listenable, never herd wythesville mentioned during coms, it was only displayed on the scannerWhat are you hearing that seems to be Wytheville? There are several possible explanations.
1 - Fairfax Ch-2 is 159.000 [127.3], which I believe is also used by Div.4 in Wytheville. If you see "Wytheville" or Div.4 on your alpha display but don't actually hear "Wytheville" mentioned (or if you hear a call on I-95 or I-66 <g>) this may be why.
2 - Culpeper Ch-2 is 158.985 [167.9] which is used by part of Div.6 (Salem) that is adjacent to Div.4 (Wytheville). Both areas include I-81, I think, which could lead to some confusion. Couple that with the possibility that you might hear a bulletin which originated in Wytheville, which could cause the name to be mentioned on the air.
