I thought that there use to be a map on radio reference showing the different State Police Radio zones. This would be helpfull when programing the Divisions and which talk groups are assoicated with that division in the PSR-600. An example of this would be: Independant Hilll if someone wasn't familar with the area it could be program for Division 2 or Division 7 the same with Organge Co someone might think its in Division 1 but really its in Division 2
Thanks

The State Police zones are listed in RR database page for STARS.
Code:

Zone 1 / Division 1 Richmond / 95%
Zone 2 / Division 1 Richmond / 94%
Zone 3 / Division 2 Culpeper / 95%
Zone 4 / Division 2 Culpeper / 88%
Zone 5 / Division 3 Appomattox / 95%
Zone 6 / Division 3 Appomattox / 94%
Zone 7 / Division 4 Wytheville / 93%
Zone 8 / Division 4 Wytheville / 92%
Zone 9 / Division 5 Tidewater / 91%
Zone 10 / Division 5 Tidewater / 95%
Zone 11 / Division 6 Salem / 94%
Zone 12 / Division 6 Salem / 93%

Each State Police division, with the exception of Division 7,
is divided into two radio communication zones.
A RR Wiki link for STARS Towers can be found in upper right of STARS database page.

The map you are talking about was for the legacy system with the conventional channels. STARS doesn't have sites dedicated to certain TG's. The TG's are active on a site when a user is affiliated with that site or linked by another while they are using, scanning (w/ a STARS radio) etc., a particular TG. The examples you gave can carry Div 1 traffic as well as Div 2, 7 and any other TG from any Div or agency that a user affiliates with. You never know what/ who you may hear, but you really don't know what you are missing, either.

The database admin has begun adding the County or City name to each site. It may not be 100% yet, but should help. The system is getting as big as a monster:lol:

I was getting tg67 from site 205 bearden yesterday but I don't think it normally makes it to alleghany co.

Yeah I don't imagine it does but someone recently explained on here to me that if a unit that is from another area is within range of this site then all traffic from that area is re-broadcast over the local site here as well as where it comes from.

Today all I've been getting is 35 for instance. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't get strange ones. Most of these are rare occurrences such as when I picked up 3 which is Richmond if I remember correctly. Only a few times on one day.

It was just a comment in response to the poster who said you might get anything from anywhere basically.

Pick up some that I don't know what exactly they are like 3229 which is a GW Tac channel but I don't know out of where or if it's a specifically dedicated tac channel for a certain area or if it's a statewide channel like 665 was on the old system. So just stick em up here to be noted and give others an idea if they should hear it they can see if they can pick up more info on it.

heard WYTH 1 (tg 751) and WYTH 2 (tg 753) on site 208 CC 161.9125 today. thinking site 208 might be poor mountain. wondering if anyone can verify? I have been logging grid testing on this control channel for several weeks.
