This is my listening setup these days:

scan091805.jpg

From left to right - Radio Shack Pro-2051, Pro-83 and Pro-70.

I'm still fiddling with antennas outside, keep in mind that I'm a Railfan and look for best performance in 160-162 mhz. Right now I've got a Center Fire 5/8 Wave VHF-High ( Tuned to 156 - 162 mhz, I haven't been happy with it's performance. ), a Radio Shack 20-176 1/4 Wave that works really well and a Radio Shack UHF TV antenna that makes a passable Yagi for 450 mhz. I've got a new 20-176 and a run of Heliax cable ( An eBay catch. ) that I'm going to put up to replace the 5/8 Wave.

We will see how that goes.

Nice, what are you using to hold up those handhelds?

Now the most important thing in his post is located in the lower left hand corner of the photo....
A pen and writting tablet (other than the actual collecting gear)

flyingwolf,

Yes those are bookends. I bend them back at a comfortable-to-look-at angle and put self-adhesive velcro strips on them - loops on the front and hooks on the back. The loops and hooks make for a tight fit with the scanner's belt hooks and keep them from sliding off. I even use one in my truck on top of the transmission hump, the scanner stays nice and stable which is a major achievement on our rough country roads.

radiorick,

I make use of a lot of sticky notes, scratch pads and legal pads in my work as a Applications Engineer for a software developer out of Colorado Springs. It makes life a whole lot easier if you take notes! :)

I may be very wrong here, but the design of that pen looks very familiar. So taking a shot in the dark
is that pen a generic style with a business logo (other that the manufacture) plastered on it.

And guess number two......is there a chance you work for a defense contractor?

radiorick,

Yes on Number 1, the pen is a freebie from a barber shop / hair stylist. I like it because of the rubber ring on the lower part. I've got big hands and it makes it easier to grip.

No on Number 2. Not a defense contractor, just a company that provides software and services to businesses in the Wholesale Distribution Market. Good company to work for as I telecommute 100%.

I also recognise that keybord right there. That thing is probably the best keyboard you could ever get.
My two year old plays with one of my spares. And Minus missing all the key caps. Its in perfect shape.

I cant actually rrmove the keycaps (fingers to big) butmy little one can get em constantly.

flyingwolf,

Yes, It's a genuine IBM 101 Key Keyboard, complete with that "Really Solid" Click. A friend of mine got a case of them for $2 each at a liquidation in Dallas 7 or 8 years ago. I ended up buying about half the case off him ( 6 keyboards ) and I've still got 5 of them in good working order.
