My wife and I are heading out to Starved Rock State Park tomorrow, and a search thru the RR database (and the CARMA database as well) didn't turn up anything in regards to frequencies used at the park.

Are there any frequencies used specifically for Starved Rock or is it just covered under general LaSalle County freq's?

Any info will be, as always, greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance.

SSSG

:)

( on a side note, will be monitoring GMRS/FRS freq's. wonder how much activity, if any, I'll hear from campers and hikers hehe )

Most Park operations are now on starcom21 with talkgroups listed as IDNR. The Conservation Police can also be heard on starcom21 on the District 17 ISP. Their Unit numbers will start with
1-Frank-xx
hope this helps you

Yes it does. Thanks.

I did find this, go about half way down the page and it shows only two freqs. for the park.

Thanks for the link. Didn't think to look there. D'oh :D

I've been under the impression that the IDNR Police are the only units from that department currently using Starcom21, with park ops, etc. still on the 151 MHz freqs. I've heard their Office of Law Enforcement units on SC21 in the Chicago area, but have not previously heard or seen reports of park, etc. ops. there. Has anyone confirmed any particular IDNR TGs in use by other than their police? If so, which TGs and areas/region?

FWIW, a map of the IDNR regions and police districts as well as info on their 151 MHz freqs can be found on pages 21-23 of CARMA's Illinois State Radio profile at http://www.carmachicago.com/profiles/ILStateRadio.pdf .

Thanks...

Sorry about the late response, but just to follow up... For Starved Rock, the DNR law enforcement units are on StarCom using Dist 17 Disp A (9019) for dispatch and DNR District 6 (1278) for car-to-car. They also pop up on other Dist 17 channels (Disp B, Car-to-Car, Detail A, etc) as necessary for details or operations. The non-law enforcement DNR units are on 151.2800 (usually CTCSS 123.0).

The DNR law unit also have VHF radios in them so you'll hear them on local PD and SO channels as well as the parks channels.
