I was just wondering if anyone knows what frequencies the state fairgrounds use for security, if they even use two-way radios. I've seen OSU security making patrols around the west side of the fairgrounds, but I would assume that OSU owns some property there alongside their campus (and the precision driving lot further to the south).

Here's what the FCC database shows:

License WPOZ678 (State Fair of Oklahoma)

Repeater on 464.825
Base on 154.540

60 mobiles on 154.540
60 mobiles on 464.525
60 mobiles on 464.575
60 mobiles on 464.775
60 mobiles on 464.825
60 mobiles on 469.825

I haven't actively sought to determine if any of these freqs are actually in use, however I drive by there enough to wonder about this question. Maybe someone has brought their scanner to a gun show or hamfest. One other consideration is that it is possibly the responsibility of individual groups who rent the fairgrounds to provide their own security. I would really think that they would have some form of communications for internal security and maintenance, though. Thanks for any input.

I have never actually seen security that is employed by the the Fairgrounds themselves. Over the years, a number of companies have provided the services obviously, but a lot of it is just contract work. I do the State Fair every year for Superior Staffing, They provide roughly 170 workers each year for various positions throughout. I handle the payroll and employee background checks for both onsite and office locations. It is not uncommon to see 3 different security companies during the fair as well as OCPD and OCSD.

I can find out about it this week. I don't think that they have their own people. As big as they are, I would imagine it is easier liability wise to just contract out each individual event. During times when they have nothing going on they would only need a few officers or gaurds. Having another 20 or 30 on-call for special events would be a logistical nightmare.

I know the Friday night Sprint Car race officials are on 151.775. Listening to that side of the race while it's going on really keeps me in the loop about everything that's going on. I often have to let people sitting around me know what's going on.
