KSP is still using in car repeaters on the new system the system is built for mobile coverage not portable Some counites like graves dont need them due to site locations but others will or thewy will have to pay to build more sites in there county for portable coverageIt's okay with me if their pursue their due diligence, at least around Bullitt/Jefferson County, taking all the time necessary.
I'd bet a few bucks they have been buying multi-band radios for several years. Both in anticipation of a "new" system as well as local interoperability.
I am curious about in-car repeaters, if anyone has solid information. With the 700/800 system, would they still use these things, or is the mobile radio capable of being its own repeater?
Not sure that this statement is unilateral. I don't see that the City of Mayfield really needs to use repeaters, but EMS and the Sheriff no doubt will need them to get county wide service.
I'm reasonably sure that is the desired result.
This was most enlightening! The problems they are discussing in regards to funding the build-out of this radio system, has been commonplace in other states when they constructed their own statewide P25 trunking radio systems. They have been done in sequential phases, dependent on funding for land acquisition and the construction of each site. As always, no matter how you try to forecasting a price tag for all things considered, it always goes higher, mostly due to cost overruns.
Think about that some more and you will figure it out.
