DVRS equipment is very practical for state users, but for local government users it might be cost prohibitive. They may find it less costly to add sites to provide in-building coverage.

Back when Louisville Metro went to their 800 system, it was designed for in-building portable coverage. DVRS units were mentioned for big incidents, but I don't believe they materialized as discussed.

I'm seeing where some local agencies are also on the new KY SERVS system? Is this correct? Does that mean that individual county/city agencies will have the option or ability to become users on the KY SERVS system as well as KSP?

I would hope that local users have the ability to use the system and take advantage of it. They have numerous voice channels available at each site, probably planned for additional agencies.

It would probably take some time for many users to join the system, wanting to see how reliable it is, etc.

I can also see where, depending on many things, local users may want to supplement the "backbone" system with additional local sites all connected, of course.

I hope they understand that when the Completion Phase is complete, they will not be done as they will need to add filler sites to make this system portable friendly, It looks to be Mobile Friendly but Portables will have dead spots.
From what i understand, there is not any plans to make it portable friendly, but to use vehicle repeaters.

Yes correct. In the power point i posted and if you watch the video of the latest update, you will see that there are many counties and local gov agencies that are in process of moving over into the state system away from their local system they are currently on

Just a heads up, there is some radio testing in Hardin County the last few days. Sounds like they are working on setting up Elizabethtown / Hardin County Dispatch

Currently in Jefferson County, I can hear Hardin County dispatch. Presuming Hardin County becomes active on the new system, I imagine the Hardin County site probably won't have enough "horsepower" to be heard here in Jefferson.

Would Hardin County traffic be carried on all sites within the region, or would there have to be a user with a radio (in Jefferson County) that affiliates with the Jefferson site in order for the traffic to be carried on the Jefferson site? (AKA Linking).

What I am seeing in West Ky with Graves is 3 sites Farmington, Clinton and Paducah.
Murray is offline no Control Channel Data was there today and double checked it.
Last weekend Wickliffe was not online either
This was checked with a 325p2 SDS100 SDS150 all sharing the same antenna setup.

The Elizabethtown KET tower site is back up and running. City of Elizabethtown has several public safety talk groups active and currently in testing. No plans currently from Hardin County 911 dispatch or other county agencies to join system. Elizabethtown Police dispatch will dispatch city Police and Fire units on SERVS later this year. VHF P25 channels currently being used by Elizabethtown Police and Fire will be maintained for back up.

I might do some hunting in NKY this week.

I did notice a license of WQEY562 near me. With some different locations listed.

KSP A and B 100% encrypted they are using it now and it is 100% encrypted.
All Graves County is in the clear for now.
Who ever the user are in either Livingston or Crittenden is 100% encrypted.
All new Paducah is 100% encrypted I talked to Paducah PD Saturday and was told it had become to easy to track them was one of the deciding factor.

It'll be interesting to see how any other state agencies (if there are gonna be any on this system) do their talkgroups, as in whether they encrypt or not. Hopefully there will be atleast a decent amount of other stuff to hear besides state police/local law enforcement.

Fingers crossed we have at least some things to monitor on this system.

I imagine other state agencies like corrections, Emergency Management, Transportation, etc., will eventually become users of the system. I'm sure when will be a function of funding to purchase new radio equipment.

I noted a recent addition to include Hardin County, where E-town has talkgroups. I'd really like to hear the justification for encrypting all of the fire talkgroups. Personally I think its a good public service for folks to know what all the sirens are about and where is that big column of smoke coming from.

The VHF channel for E-town Fire will still be used for P25 2-tone dispatching and station alerting, it will remain in the clear.
