I notice that the database for MSP does not show where some channels are either simulcast on trunking systems or moved operations to a local trunking system. Below is a table that crosses all the ones I could find. This info should be in the database section for MSP but I don't know how to get it there. I submitted but nothing has happened.

39.60 Berlin Barracks V Ocean City (SID=2554) Talkgroup 833 and Worchester County (SID=386) Talkgroups 833, 834

Thank you for this information, Lynn.
Could someone please clarify which of these TGs are simulcast or are they primary means of SP communication in the county?

Thanks

These are all cross referenced in our wiki, of course...by barrack name, talkgroup and associated system

Md State Police - the RR Wiki

As for being the primary, it varies greatly. On the Eastern Shore, there are some that reportedly use their trunk portables a great deal more than their 39 mhz channels. They revert back to 39 mhz when they are out of range or in a poor coverage area. I understand Easton barracks does this, and there may be more.

In central Maryland, 39 mhz is still pretty heavily used, and is patched into the respective 800 system (Glen Burnie barracks, for one). There are a couple of barracks with allocations which, at least so far, seem unused (Baltimore county, for one- although with the new P25 system they have, they may be in the process of doing it). The money for trunking radios is not always easy to get due to statewide budget constraints.

The 39 mhz freqs are basically simplex, which makes it more difficult for scannists to hear them. Most multi band scanner antennas aren't resonant there, so you need to have a fairly sensitive scanner or be relatively close to hear them.

best regards..Mike

Yes, 39.14 was the old Annapolis barracks, closed a few years ago. I understand that it's a reserve channel now, for what use I have no idea. The chart in the wiki has this correctly

best regards..Mike

Mike could you also add Dorchester talkgroup 37600 as being a simulcast talkgroup for MSP Easton as well? MSP units assigned in Dorchester will typically monitor the Dorchester system especially in the sourthern part of the county when they are out of range with the UESC system.

You can do that yourself - as I've said on many occasions, this is a user maintained database - meaning you and anyone else can make the necessary changes to almost any page in the wiki

Thanks for the additional info...Mike
