Looks like some Districts will be starting a 12 hour shift pilot program starting Jan. 3rd, 2010. This comes from the Lodge 41's web site:
Following several weeks of discussions and negotiations and with the input and agreement from the Trustees in the effected districts, the Lodge and the Department have signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning a one year pilot program for 12 hour shifts for patrol officers in Districts 2, 10, 14 and 21. 12 hour shifts will begin on January 3rd.
