Ok where in the State are you located and are you using this handheld from inside a building such as a dispatch center or office. A portable may not be sufficiennt as was the case under the Motorola system also.

Its digital so it sounds different....especially after using analog radios....
without a better description then " it sucks" I'm not quite sure what else to tell you. Who did you deal with to set up the purchase, M/A Com or directly thru the State, because I'm suprised that if its for a dispatch area they did not recommend a mobile or base configuration, which portable did they purchase and what is the environment its being used in.
