That is right on the point made by hertzian, LtDoc, and others about the fact that the OCFD pattern at 800 is mostly skyward. Unless you have strong 800 sigs very close by the OCFD doesn't hear much up there. Glad VHF low was better for you in the Bay Area, and you have a new travel antenna!
