Recently, I've noticed several steel poles placed along I-40 starting a few miles east of Tinker. They have a solar panel mounted near the top. Below that is a box that is aimed at the closest side of the interstate. These towers alternate sides of the interstate. I would have figured the box being a camera, but it seems to be entirely opaque. Anyone have any ideas what these are for?

It's probably part of a state Dept of Transportation monitoring system to keep track of traffic flow. It senses traffic going past and sends the data to a monitoring site for watching traffic patterns.

Sheeesh, if that is what it is for, I could have saved them a bunch of money.

I *already* have identified a pattern from the empical data I have collected ... IT IS A FREAKING PARKING LOT twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon/evening, Monday thur Friday!!

Its actually a monitor to read the rfid strip off your cash as you go down the interstate. It catches a lot of drug runners. LOL!
