Does anyone do any Military Monitoring in the Newburgh NY area. I am trying to get into military monitoring with Stewart Air Base so close but I am not having any lucky.Any ideas were to begin?

Thanks for that. I have all the in the scanner already but you don't here any milarty on it. Unless I just dont know what I am listening to. Do you know of any key words on call signs that i can listen for that will let me know its military?

If you are listening to Stewart tower, 121.00, and hear something like Yankee 51 or Epic 36, than those are military flights. You can also hear the Epic callsign on 132.75 for coordinating drops at West Point. Epic is some sort of helicopter, not sure what model, and the Yankee callsign out of Stewart is a C130.

Unless they changed Yankee is the call of Marine C130's stationed there. They're a refueling squadron and do a lot of work with Jolly the air rescue of the 106th out of Long Island.
