Sticky Thread for Major Events

Since these Maryland threads are the busiest of any on the RadioReference forums...and since we have a huge group of people that post and many that lurk...how about if we create one thread for posting major events? Many of us do this already either in Private Messages or personal email back and forth. Why not let everyone know about them?

All we would need to post would be a one sentence description with the location/frequency/event such as:
PG County Fire 494.8375 Multi Alarm School Fire

Or for a trunked system:
Baltimore County Police Towson TG1776 Cop shot...foot chase in progress

And maybe, just maybe we could get Eric to make it a "Sticky" thread so it would always be at the top. Each posting has a time attached to it so it would be apparent which are "live" and which are expired.

I was actually going to post something similar, a request for a working incidents discussion subforum... for either post-incident discussion or realtime tracking.

Just noticed your question Mo...not sure if that's humor or real but...no, there was not a cop shot in Towson. Example only.

While I was typing the above sentence I heard a call on Carroll County Fire to respond to McDaniel College in Westminster for an adverse reaction to steroids. Wonder if this is illegal steroids or something prescribed like Prednisone? Immediately thought of baseball. Just talking out loud here, not giving an example of a major event for this thread. But "major" is fairly subjective and will be up to each poster. It won't hurt anything if others don't think an alert is really in the "major" category.

There's a big fire in Harford Co. Don't know the exact location but they have requested a medivac to the scene. Ops are on B1 on th trunk. Mutual Aid from Baltimore Co.

Another incident in Harford Co. NB I-95 near exit 34 (?) MVA with rescue, requesting a medivac.

Along this line, those of you unfamiliar w/ the Maryland Fire Network may be interested in checking it out....can search for their very detailed website.....they offer alpha paging alerts of MD area and National fire/rescue/PD/weather/major event news....outstanding service....variety of $$ packages for service.

By far, this is the most comprehensive notification service for the MD area. The nice folks who run MFN are based in Harford & Balt Counties. I've had an alpha pager through them (also w/ personal service) for 7 years and am exceedingly pleased.

I hope the alpha paging that you pay for is kept far more up to date than any of the info on their website. The last covered incident is from 12/8/04... and I have had several emails go unanswered in the past.

MFN pages REAL-TIME. no need to worry about the last incident being coverned over a 2 monts ago. when something happens... its paged out over the network...

Yes....the MFN website has some cobwebs......but the paging svc is great.... # of local alerts varies - tyically between 30-100 per day, depending on what is going on.....and there are also 3 newsdrops for national events and national news. They've been overwhelmed w/ responses and are hard to get in touch w/.....if you have no success, PM me and I'll put you in direct contact w/ their contact person.

I get good reception down here Dave on the York PSP 155.505 freq but the scanner hasn't stopped once on it tonight. Guess I missed whatever it is.

Still unclear what's going on.....someone is racing toward York from Lancaster.....unsure if ambo or PD....and PSP York will be meeting them en route. Peculiar. Plenty of medical/trauma cases that would get referred from Lancaster --> York Hosp, but the PSP involvement is very atypical.
