Prince George's County Beltsville District 495.2125 and simulcast on PG County Sheriff freq 155.58: Barricade situation...female in house. Converse Court. She got out of a car carrying a shotgun, ran into the house. She's got a two year old in there with her.
When approached by an off duty sheriff's officer, she pointed the shotgun at him and told him "Get the hell off my property." Not smart. So now they've got to go through the whole drill...setting perimeter...calling special ops, etc. Units descending on the house from everywhere. Sigh.
Morse callsign being broadcast on 155.58 is KUG45. Most of comms are being simulcast but some are only on 495.2125.
Officer on way to scene has a "departmental" -- meaning he crashed his car at Brandywine and Route 301. They are calling for fireboard to respond which sounds like injuries.
Okay, now they've separated the comms. The incident is on 155.58 and regular Beltsville District comms are on 495.2125. Air One will not fly due to the high winds.
Command orders all comms stay on "A" mode, no "B" mode....meaning he wants them on full power hitting the repeater, not the simplex mode.
Woman just stepped out of the house...officer tried to make contact but she went back inside. Report she was unarmed and argumentative.
They just got the woman's name and phone number from a neighbor (which won't be reported here). Dispatcher tried earlier to get the number from 411 but couldn't. Commander on scene wants dispatcher's supervisor to attempt telephone contact. Commander wants all officers to take cover behind something "heavy and solid."
Telephone contact made with the woman...she says she's done nothing wrong and is not coming out of the house. Negotiator now on scene.
They are dispatching a medic unit to the scene...just in case.
And later...they are still placing units on the perimeter, chasing basketball playing kids away from the neighborhood, closing roads all around the development and getting set to negotiate with the woman. Apparently, from traffic, this woman has a previous incident where she was also armed. (The terrible 7A situation.) Commander says no more units needed...no county nor sheriff's deputies...only SOD can come to the scene.
Commander giving a complete description of the house to remotely located SOD units...doors, windows, shutters, steps, etc in case they have to storm the house. Commander also advises his troops that the woman has dogs so be careful in case she turns them loose on the officers outside.
The woman stepped out of the house into her backyard...she was swarmed, brought down, hog tied and is under arrest. They are now ready to check inside the house. 10-3 is lifted at 1606...everything back to normal. Total time of operation about 1 hour, 25 minutes. They are calling for an ambulance to the scene so I guess she got hurt during the takedown. The child in the house turned out to be five years old and they are attempting to find family members to come care for her. And this ends this episode of "How Prince George's County Turns."
