Yep - back when I grew up, MSP would have just unloaded some pumpkin balls & buck shot into the suspect car from a roadblock position.....typically ended chases rather quickly and served as a great deterring factor for future thugs.

Should be noted

It should be noted that at some point during the pursuit, he attempted to ram a police vehicle... It was an odd pursuit. He was drunk or anything, just didn't want to stop. But it seemed like he was really oblivious to the whole situation... Even the cops seemed a little perplexed.

And, yes, it was an 80 minute pursuit... Longest one I have ever heard. Not very exciting, no high speeds or anything, and no adrenaline pumping, but still exciting as it was a pursuit....

(Sorry, can't resist).. Perhaps it was Dougie out trying to make some excitement....

Take a look at David's signature and tell me that FD comms are boring.

I hope you realize why I said that about fires. If not, read back a gaggle of posts.

Oh, and as an ego stroker, see Kevin Cowherd's column in today's Baltimore Sun (page C1) that talks about a survey done by Salary.com that says firefighter was the "sexiest" profession.

Oops. Mea culpa.

By the way, the Chester County fire was a working house fire. Cecil County was invisible to me since I can't hear any of their comms on low band. Sure wish they'd get to VHF-Hi band. (Yeah, just so I could hear them.)

Baltimore County Fire 46.46 dispatch and TRS TG368: Two story dwelling fire 4212 Ravenhurst Circle. Units enroute.

First unit reports nothing showing.
Investigative unit reports smoke in the dwelling.
Turns out it was only an appliance fire (a toaster...a TOASTER?). Holding two units and the rest are cleared to return to service.

Frederick County 153.845 and TRS TAC30 (TG16080): Box 28-7. House fire with heavy fire reported showing through the roof at Brookshire Run in Potomac Village. Loudoun County VA mutual aid also responding.

Montgomery County also responding mutual aid.

(I did a double take on that Loudoun County mutual aid until I realized where Loudoun is and, yes, it borders Frederick County.)

Kidnapping - Balt Co 107 (ID 1808)....air en route.....small white vehicle

{edit} now saying it wasn't a kidnapping after all. Calling it all off.

{edit} peculiar...hysterical hispanic woman reports that her 13 yr-old was snatched off the street by 3-4 men....then says there was actually no kidnapping and the fellas were just asking for directions. Huh??? Somebody's got some 'splainin' to do.

Harford County 460.60 and TRS TG1920: Dwelling fire 3936 Deer Park Court. First unit reports heavy fire showing.

Second alarm struck 11:57.

Fireground channel is B1 (TG1968).

Cecil County responding mutual aid.

Strange response...some units not responding because they have no manning. Lots of units having to ask directions to the scene. They have no idea where this Deer Park Court is located and didn't get map instructions in the dispatch. There is a seeming lack of response planning in this department.

12:27 -- "I think we have most of the fire knocked."

And so, after fighting this fire for 30 minutes, they are calling for drinks and food to be brought to the scene for approximately 50 people. Well, they did have to work through lunch hour after all.

After reporting the fire knocked, they found more fire in the center of the building and then more fire 15 minutes later when someone decided to check the attic.

Where, oh where, is the Ladies Auxilliary with the food and drinks? That's of primary concern. Anyway, they got the fire taken care of and I realize this is primarily a volunteer organization that isn't always fully manned so I shouldn't be overly critical of their performance. Even with a fair amount of confusion, they got the job done and that's what counts.

Prince George's Police District III Palmer Park 495.1375: Man with a gun shooting at people from a building on Central Avenue (Central and Cindy). Reports of one man down. Units responding.

[Edits}
Now reports are that three people are down...units still on the way.

Now reports that someone also shot at Central and entrance to Beltway.

Chief calling for K-9 unit and helo to respond. Looking for #1 male, blue jeans.
Fireboard responding but told to stay away from scene until it's secure.
Reporter on scene at time first units arrive. (That was sure fast.)

Evening shift told to report to scene rather than to roll call.
Still reporting multiple victims.
Simulcasting on both Palmer Park channels (3&9). Channel 9 is 494.3125.

Huge amount of confusion taking place. As far as I can determine, the only victim they've found is a pedestrian run over by a car. They found no one shot or injured at the Central Ave and entrance to the beltway location.

They now are saying that the one victim they've found was shot and not hit by a car. Crime scene units wanted since they are saying this victim will shortly be classified as a homicide. Living but barely.

From the sounds of things, the 911 center received multiple calls on this when it began, with each person reporting slightly different events/locations for the shooting which resulted in the reports of multiple victims. Oh, and homicide says they will not report to the scene until they get firm word that this guy is dead. And that's that.

Other units stopped a car, found the driver with a handgun and a mask in his pocket. They think this is the shooter of the Central Ave/Cindy victim. Good work if it is.

However, since a gun and a mask are standard equipment for driving around that area, this may not be the shooter. They are still trying to collect a description from witnesses - including the reporter that was on the scene before police arrived - which makes me think they grabbed a citizen in normal gear rather than the shooter. Time will tell.
Another episode of "As Prince George's County Turns."

One last note: The victim has expired. They now want homicide to come to the scene.

Whoops..

Sorry, wrote this at 0239... my eyes were half closed.

Both of these were in Baltimore City. One was on C1 one of C5. The MVA was on A1.

Anne Arundel County Fire TRS TG48 (for now): Box 26-6 fire at Southgate Elementary School, 290 Shetlands Lane.

Units told to respond on Bravo (TG48) but then told TAC channel is Foxtrot (TG176). And they switched to TG176.

Trooper is working another incident on TG112 (a MVA) so this bunch told to use J (TG304) for a command freq.

Initial reports are that it is confined to an electrical panel and contained.

The other incident is causing a problem since the LZ for Trooper was scheduled to be at a school - different school, not Southgate as mentioned above. But the school is about to let out the students and Trooper doesn't want to land there. He's overruled by the ground units and LZ will be at the school. And I always thought the pilot had the last word. Guess not.

Meanwhile...another incident at the airport. BWI dispatch 4A (TG592) and ops on 4C (TG656). Apparently, a fire alarm went off at Southwest Airlines Ops Control. No incident...Honeywell Prevention on the line testing and resetting alarms in the Southwest complex. They are going to do the same tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. This must be testing in the new SW wing.

My uncle was stuck in this mess. He mentioned something about a vehicle fire as well. Do you know if the car burned?
