Anyone else hear the alert tone on MSP-Annapolis(39.14) that just preceeded the BOLO for the suspects wanted in this AM's killing of a PSP trooper on the Parkway West near Pittsburgh?
It sounded like a cell phone ring. I must admit that this was tne first time I've ever heard it

Have some kind of a situation on Baltimore County TRS, TG1904 Essex: They're talking about a barricade situation of some type and mention "she might open the door and put the gun outside."

They're now saying the yard is fenced and if she just throws the gun out the door, they won't be able to get at it safely. They want her to come out without the gun but she's unwilling to do that. They just called for SWAT to be dispatched since they weren't getting anywhere with her. This last was at 4:06 p.m.

They want the husband transported to Seneca Elementary which gives an indication of the area.
Also keep an ear out for Essex TAC talkgroup 2352.
TAC Team TG8240 active - probably in response to this.

At 4:17 they are reporting there might be a gunshot from inside the house....and soon after that mention they still see her moving around the house so she apparently didn't shoot herself.

(In searching for activity that might be related, I ran across TG40272 which isn't in the database. It appears to be shop talk, perhaps for Highways like TG40240.)

The Command Post for this operation is the office of the Seneca Elementary School.
TAC Team units (TG8240) mention a bridge that is closed because of ice and having to travel a different way to get to the Essex location.

Info on the woman in the house is that she's 35 years old and is a former Marine. Negotiators have her on the phone.

5:20 p.m. and it is still going on. They have police all over the area around the house, in adjacent houses, etc. The Elite TAC Team is on the scene and set up to take whatever action is necessary. I have not heard a word about what precipitated this whole action. She's still moving about in the house and they say a TV is on...BUT...her world as she knows it is going to come to a screeching halt sooner or later this evening.

Latest info from the TAC Team is that she was not a Marine...she tried to join but was turned down for mental issues. History of mental problems. Her weapon is a .357 Magnum. Why do I feel this is going to turn out badly?

Another couple of hours has gone by -- it's now 7:20 p.m. -- and the standoff continues. Traffic still on the same two talkgroups but it has gotten fairly slow.

9:15 p.m. and it's still the same...she's in the house armed and a gaggle of police are outside in the cold. Most all comms are on the TAC Team TG8240. The commander switches to "309" occasionally which is TG7760, the Whitemarsh ISU.

And at 9:47 p.m. she walked out of the house and they have her. They're now going in to shake down and clear the house. Finally, it comes to an end.

2nd alarm dwelling fire - Gibson Island (AA County) --

Multiple 911 callers - at least one reporting possibly involving a propane tank on the side of the house - E20 reported a glow in the air on approach to the scene. Then reported dwelling 100% involved on arrival. Chief 20 requested 2nd alarm on arrival.

Master streams/elevated platforms in operation (surround and drown) and protect exposures (other structures nearby).

Water source problems. Enroute, Batt Chief 2 special called FB61 from Sandy Point (direct shot to Gibson Island) but boat reported heavy chop and winds from the north so they were canceled!

Most 2nd alarm units sitting in staging.

Safety group established watching chimney on structure which is becoming unstable.

With regard to that Essex incident, I was on the Beltway near 83 at around 5:00 and I must have seen at least 6 or 7 unmarked cars, over a 5 minute period, from vans, to SUVs, to a really slick secret service looking SUVs, to everyday cars, booking down the fast shoulder in the other direction from my travel (toward Essex) with every imaginable light bar, strobe, and siren sequence. This was one of the times I was quite happy to have the 396. I had no idea what was happening. I never saw anything like it and really wanted to hear what was going on. It was at that moment I saw the "Elite TAC Unit" channel light up with activity - for me the first time seeing that.

Thanks TinEar for that write up. I did hear everyone responding and at one point heard on the Elite TAC channel "do you need a sniper immediately" so I realized it was a barricade situation as I was driving, but now I know what went down. Thx again for the update!

Tractor-Trailer, Bus Collide
RSS Feeds From ABC 7 Friday December 16, 2005 11:33am
GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) - A tractor-trailer and a RideOn bus have collided in the Germantown area.

Montgomery County (website - news) fire and rescue spokesman Pete Piringer says at least five people have been injured, some seriously. Some people are trapped.

The accident happened around 10:45 am at the intersection of Ridge Road and Brink Road.

Piringer says two helicopters are on the scene to fly victims to hospitals as well as a dozen fire and rescue units.

Icy roads have been a problem Friday morning in Montgomery County but Piringer says he doesn't know whether that was a factor in the accident.

Wow! I didn't know we had helos big enough to transport fire and rescue units. And a dozen of them!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. That news reporter got a few comments on that...I'm sure.

Does anyone know how that barricade situation in AA County turned out last night? I finally turned the radio off at 2:20 a.m. and it was still ongoing.

Holy crap, i turned mine off at like midnight and it was still going. I think it was midnight anyway. I'd like to know how that turned out. The last i remember they were all staging at the democratic club, then they changed the staging area to somewhere else, i cant remember where. After that, I think they were staging or something.

3-alarm fire in Montgomery County

from NBC4.com--

GERMANTOWN, Md. -- A woman has been charged with arson after a three-alarm fire broke out in her apartment complex early Sunday morning.

About 75 people were displaced in the fire at the apartment complex in the 20000 block of Halethorpe Lane in the Middlebrook section of Gemantown.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said a 25-year-old woman who lived in one of the apartments was taken into custody and charged with first-degree arson. More charges are pending.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at about 3:30 a.m.

One firefighter was treated for minor injuries. A female resident was treated for possible smoke inhalation.

Piringer told News4 that investigators believe the building's fire alarm system did not work, but smoke alarms in individual apartments did. He said neighbors went door to door to help people escape the fire.

It ended about 0430 without incident. MU-30 was standing by in case of injuries. After entry was made they stated that police would be asking for a truck company to ventilate. Apparently either numerous flashbangs or teargas were used. I believe Quint 13 was dispatched.

Santa just went by my place in Leesburg, VA. He was on a ladder truck all decked out with lights. :)

They're talking on 866.8375, that makes two T/A channels that I've identified being used by Loudoun.

Now these are the kind of major events we like.
Let's start a RR Santa tracking thread...just kidding.
Never forget your childhood. No matter what changes...that's one thing you will allways have. And thanks your parents.

Merry Christmas,

Mike

Shooting?

Had the scanner turned off most of the day and when turning back on heard the Howard County dispatch warning all that the homocide suspect may be a police officer or correctional officer. Is this as a result of the incident up in Randallstown?

Have a situation on the PG County Bowie District freq 494.5375. They are in the process of setting up a perimeter and awaiting Air One's overhead cover and for K-9 to arrive. The area is adjacent to Route 450 and Bell Station Road and Sir Walter. Seems there was a vehicle accident. One of the drivers tried to drive off and run down an officer. He then beat feet and is around the neighborhood somewhere. The occupants of one of the vehicles are injured and awaiting fire board.

[Edit] Apparently, the mook ran into and out of a house in the 12000 block of Sir Walter. (Sir Walter runs off Sir Lancelot.) Suspect now being described as 7-A with a knife...a #1 male.

No one reported this at the time it happened but in the 1700 hour there was a fatal accident in Anne Arundel County at the intersection of Routes 170 and 100. A 40 year old man was killed and a 17 year old girl taken to Shock Trauma in critical condition. If you heard the copter or the sirens in that area, that was the incident.
