Does anyone have any idea what type of plane this is? Possibly a drone? Slow speeds and low altitude. ICAO is ~E052D4. Took off around McGuire and did a loop around KACY then headed back to McGuire area
80625 .

1440 EST- ADS-B showing AF1 (VC-25 # 82-8000) departed Andrews followed by VC-25 # 92-9000 as back up. Both heading west.
I have noticed he takes 2 with him quite often anymore. Is that in response to something new? I don't remember seeing it domestically until recently.

Used to see 09-0015 and 09-0016 as BUs/Decoys whereever POTUS was, but haven't seen that pair lately (did see 09-0015 heading back from Daytona. But the pairing of 82-8000 and 92-9000 has been relatively new, I believe.

Actually in older days there was always both of the big VC-25's up domestically but in past few years each of the VC-25 tails
were down for long periods for overhaul upgrades one at a time so they turned to the C-32A's a lot more often for backups.
Now more back the way it was till we get the new B747-800 monsters someday... Will make current 747's look smaller :)

Boeing mock up image of new AF-1 747-800 design and stats.
