Couple McGuire KC-10's SPUR 73 flight headed NW across PA North of Harrisburg.
A/A 268.025.. Maybe for the Blue Angels out yonder?
Also B752 09-0017 headed NW from Maryland.
Guess the T-Birds still at Langley? Assume going to Boston area tonight or Saturday morning to start from there on the 4th.

Mark,

About an hour ago I heard some very weak comms on 143.7---a T-Birds freq. It was too weak to make anything out. My list has 143.7 used for A-A cross country & for refueling.

I see HMX-1 is using the VH-60s in South Dakota. So I've got a bit of a theory that they don't use the VH-3Ds at elevated AMSL due to reduced performance From what a former HMX-1 pilot told me, the VH-3Ds don't perform as well due to the extra weight. Also why you won't see them in steeply banking turns.

VH-60s were also used when he went to Denver.

I have SPUR flight back eastbound now, still on 268.025. Not sure if they have receivers with them.

EDIT: No chicks in tow, SPUR 74 tells ZOB 119.325 that they have SPUR 73 in trail conducting random AR.

1105- Both Baltimore PD surveillance acft are up today. N72366 (Survey 1) at 9,500 ft & N802U at 8,700 ft. Both acft have apparently coordinated their orbits so that one acft is on north side of Baltimore while the other is on the south side. Both orbits converge over the center of Baltimore providing max coverage.

Have you ever figured out what they are doing? Is it just visual or something more, like communications monitoring?

According to news reports they are downlinking video of their coverage area. If there is an incident within their coverage area the PD can then review the surveillance footage.

They tried it out last year and raised one hell of an argument with the ACLU claiming it was a violation of privacy, etc. But they were able to get approval to do it again this year.

Today's flyover article from NJ.com. Coming down the Hudson River at about 5 pm, then looks like direct to Philly for 5:15 pm.

1416 local- Just heard flight of 4 on ZNY 282.3 Couldn't make out the callsign. Sounded like FUTURE. Nothing showing on ADS-B.
Unknown if related or not, but 5 tankers (SPUR flts) orbiting off the coast of Maine.
A/C on 282.3 telling ZNY he is heading to W102 to meet his tanker SPUR 83

E-4B 73-1677 eastbound from Offutt displaying ID of MURCA01.

1435-DEVILs flight on ZDC 285.4 says they'll be holding for four hours and doing the Salute to America flight.

Found the flight plan for Baltimore-DC area, it's kinda vague though once they leave Baltimore...

Those SPUR tankers holding off of Maine must be connected to the flyovers since they flyover starts near Boston.
1448 local- THUNDERBIRD 1 (with Huntress?) on 228.9 saying they're doing the DC area flyover, 141.175 for A/A, also notify DRAGO flts.
Looks like 141.175 for you DC/MD area guys. One of the T-Birds radios is stuck on 141.175

1500 local- 228.9 seems to be a controller frequency for this event. More A/C checking in although very weak here. I'm receiving the controller side only.
