Saw news last week of that RAF F-35B that crashed upon takeoff from carrier QE. Ejection seat worked well.
Looks like could be a big oopsie daisy as cause.. Seems improbable as you would think on engine run up
it would show before departure.. Not sure on this one. If true an expensive oops!

Read that RAF wants US deep sea guys based in Spain to try and retrieve the sunken plane.
The 10 USMC F-35's aboard landed in ROTA today.. A shame as the HMSQE was having a great first cruise.

1340z 391.000 BLUE 61 & 62 and NAF 326 (x4) 2nd Cell on boom. Then had Comm issues, switch to Sec freq.
1351z 388.400 BLUE 61 & 62 and NAF 326 (x4) Boom freq

Note: I thought I had 234.1 A-A punched in but I did not get any recordings on that freq. Maybe I messed up programming it into the scanner!

Thanks for the logs. Minor point but did they actually call it MAPLE OPS ? I've heard the BTV F-35s guys calling them SCORPION OPS when they call in. Seems like it changed when they went from F-16s to F-35s ?

Under a rare sun of late summer, two F-35s of the Vermont Air National Guard's 158th fighter wing came roaring out of the West at 1:20 pm to a smattering of applause, circled Burlington International Airport, simulated a couple of touch-and-goes and finally landed at their home base for the first time.

They sported the Green Mountain Boys nickname on the tail and a new symbol for a new mission on the fuselage, the Yellow Scorpions. The yellow scorpion patch is a heritage emblem/tribute to the WWII Squadron which helped found the 158th Fighter Wing.

No, that's what I've had for my alpha tag for as long as I can remember. I didn't know they changed it. Thanks for the info.
