Any chance your phone uses IR for the auto focus? Maybe their sensors/FLIR/NVG would have picked it up & they thought you were trying to hit 'em w/ a laser? Just guessing here.

Could very well be, but one would hope the technology installed can differentiate between a Samsung S21 Ultra and an actual threat. You have to think there are so many sources of IR in an average urban environment they'd never get anywhere if they had to change course constantly.

I'm surprised nobody has chimed in yet about the red forward-facing lights I mentioned. When I have a stable internet connection I will upload the video to YouTube, but until then, anyone have any ideas about which ac have red landing lights?

Avoiding a bright light isn't necessarily the same as responding to a threat.

Based on second hand info, they get very annoyed if the obstruction lights on some equipment is left on when practicing NVG landings and they are expecting a darkened airfield. They may have just not been expecting it and decided to do change their flight path.

The F15, all models, have a left and a right anticollision light on the leading edge of each wing, and the fusalage mount point. They have a white landing, and taxi lights which you'd only see if the gear were down. They don't have a red landing light. Not sure about the A10.

Baltimore Fleetweek 2022 starts up this week thru next weekend..Haven't seen any scheduled aircraft flyovers but
assume A-10's out of Martin State etc. Martin State also has Open House next Saturday and Sunday.
Maybe some Oceana Hornets will also drop by.
