Plenty of VLF TACAMO action with the E-6s last night.

Atlantic JONAH 01 at 17.8 kHz, Pacific CLINT 01 at 22.7 kHz and Gulf of Mexico DUDAD 01 at 27.2 kHz. Each frequency had several wide, medium and narrow modes displayed as usual.

Received in Kentucky with an AirSpy HF+ Discovery SDR and a Wellbrook ALA1530LN loop antenna.

I think...
I posted the audio of everything from yesterday that I was able to hear
Lots of exercises Tues. morning in W-105 and W-107 at the same time! The radio is pretty choppy because there were so many freqs. active at the same time. The radio scans pretty fast because I only have maybe 100 freqs in the dogfight bank so it scans around quicker. I have no scan delay on right now. I have tried a 1 second scan delay and didn't like the traffic I missed. Some aircraft heard was ANGRY - F-16's out of Andrews, SLAM out of Barnes, TOMCAT tanker, MAINE tanker, DEVIL out of Atlantic City, SKOLL out of Barnes, BULLET out of Barnes, HECKLER out of Barnes, RIPPLE out of Barnes, BEAR out of Barnes, COSMIC out of Atlantic City, WILD out of Andrews, VIPER out of Andrews?, KNIFE out of Barnes

Tangentially off topic as not in our region (or anywhere nearby), but I happened to see this last night/early this morning... for whatever reason my dumb brain thought these were all long since retired and they didn't fly anymore. Learn something new every day! Anyway, appeared to originate from and return to Plant 42. There was some interesting USAF ISR traffic NE of Vegas at the same time, including a Rivet Joint and an Australian E7 Wedgetail. Nice time to be out in the desert...

I have no idea what exactly the U-2 was doing, but the other planes you mentioned north of Las Vegas are involved with Red Flag 22-1.

I don't know if this is the right forum, but does anyone know why the FCC is limiting the militarys use of Link 16?

I thought the only other users of the spectrum in question was the military with TACANs / and some DME, and it was designed to not interfere with the navigation equipment.

Thanks
Joel

0824- Belo 21 (prob B-52) working ZNY Elk Mountain (298.9) requesting clearance to FL350.
I first had BELO-21 on ZDC UHF 07:43 local reports speed is mach.66 then says speed 395.
07:47 local BELO-21 push ZDC Millville 125.450.. and lost them after that. That surprised me with all the UHF freqs around here
course can't keep that VHF freq in my tape rotation or would be hours of listening :)
