1951: Confirm...AXEMAN and RAVEN flights going to the Duke MOA and will refuel. One flight is 18 minutes ahead of the other (not sure which is first). The lagging flight advised the first flight to jump on the tanker if he's there. They used their Ops freq as a common...143.8
They'll be operating on 259.4 in the Duke per a message from Ops.

2006: REACH 369 (C-17A, 04-4137, 6th AS McGuire) arriving Andrews....ETA 30 past the hour, no pax or cargo...378.1
2011: CRAB 56 (C-130J, 98-1356, 135th AS MD-ANG) with Crab Ops...385.6
(CRAB 52 is somewhere in the area too)
2015: Here he is...CRAB 52 (C-130J, 97-1352, 135th AS MD-ANG) w/Crab Ops...385.6
That reminds me...I still haven't pinned down exactly where their drop zone is. I think it's around Phillips AAF. The callsign they use for the drop controller is AEGIS DZ (Drop Zone) and usually use 148.925 when they talk to him.
2022: Saudi Arabian Air Force HZ 124 climbing out of Dulles (A-340, tail HZ-124)...TRACON
[That Brazilian Air force C-130 that I logged last night - tail FAB2466 - was in the area again today around 1300. That's the only other foreign air force craft noted today.]
2033: JOSA 837 (C-21A, 84-0075, 457th AS Andrews) arriving at Andrews....119.85/119.3
2036: JOSA 837 with Andrews Tower...13 miles out, full stop on runway 19L...118.4
2036: CRAB 56 to Crab Ops with arrival message...20 minutes out, A-1, 23K on the gas...385.9

2100: BLACKJACK 1 and 2 up...139.7
2104: BLACKJACK 1 with ADW Tower...118.4
2104: AXEMAN flight with ZNY-Lancaster...239.05
2108: CRAB 52 starting his approach into Martin State...385.9
2108: AXEMAN flight with ZNY-Modena 335.6

The past two nights, Coast Guard Station Hampton Roads has been received here better than Baltimore. They're loud and clear on channel 16 - 156.8.

Ref REACH 6159 (C-17A, 06-6159, 60th AMW Travis) mentioned also that he was scheduled for an AR op but would cancel and take on fuel at McGuire. Wanted the scheduling agency notified. I also had an OPEC 49 (KC-10A, 79-0434 I think, out of McGuire) hanging around and asking someone on 311.0 about his scheduled refueling. He might have been the one left without a dance partner.

I have a couple of things to contribute....First and foremost: (and because I didn't see it mentioned earlier)

NOTAM Number : FDC 7/2176
Issue Date : May 23, 2007 at 1310 UTC
Location : Hagerstown/Thurmont, Maryland near MARTINSBURG VORTAC (MRB)
Beginning Date and Time : May 25, 2007 at 1635 UTC
Ending Date and Time : May 27, 2007 at 1600 UTC
Reason for NOTAM : Temporary flight restrictions for VIP (Very Important Person) Movement
Type : VIP

Second....at the noon hour I had BlackJack1, BlackJack2, and BlackJack 3 all up together flying around the city. I took a picture of BlackJack3....he was 300ft in front of me, and about 50ft higher....now...If I just new how to operate this damn camera when it comes to moving targets I'd have a pciture to share...anyway....despite the blue sky shot in the photo, it looks just like BlackJack1 except with a white vertical stripe on the tail, instead of the black one.

I had them on 120.7500 and Marine channel 16? (156.0500). Also, there is no "121.500" on the door, oh, and he was flying with his gear down, and made his way up to Bethesda.

I have a great vantage point at work where the Helo's transitioning north up the potomac along the tidal basin are within 300ft of me. So I look forward to providing you with some great photos soon.

Had HUNTRESS working BLACKJACK 1 last night on 139.7. HUNTRESS was loud & clear at my location even though I was just using the 396 with a duck. Normally I don't hear HUNTRESS unless I'm using the discone. Maybe transmitting from a nearer location than usual in preparation for the activity at Thurmont today?

edit to fix typo

Tony, I checked my (?very excellent?) notes and had nothing for that callsign or even an aircraft with a serial ending in xx-xx73 that might account for it. No telling who that might have been. :)

0904: DC Flight (KC-135R 756th ARS Andrews) reports airborne at 1304Z to LIBERATOR...378.1 (no suffix, just "DC Flight"...I believe he said it that way because two of them went airborne from Andrews. Their tails were 59-1469 and 57-1487.)
0904: PAT 728 gives arrival message to Andrews...IDs as a C-26, 10 miles out, needs fuel and plans to be at ADW until 1430...378.1
0908: Executive 1 Foxtrot (C-40B, 02-0042, 1st AS Andrews) airborne from Andrews...118.95
0911: PAT 728 with ADW Twr for landing...118.4
0912: The two DC tankers are using 351.2 for an interflight freq...believe one of them is DC 32.
0914: Marine 474 (UC-35D, 166474, MAW-4) off from Andrews...125.65
0927: Bollen Range active....237.2
0927: Interflight 143.25 active...someone says "let's go back to the original interflight freq"...should be A-10s from Willow Grove and the same players at Bollen Range
0929: VENUS 22 (C-20B, 86-0202, 99th AS Andrews) landing Andrews...118.4
0930: U/I player calling WARCRAFT 03 (FAC) at Bollen Range...makes contact and says they're still about 5 minutes out...237.2
0931: Air Force 1 (VC-25A, 92-9000) airborne from Andrews...118.95
0934: I'm puzzled...now I've got VENUS 22 reporting airborne from Andrews at 22...will return in a couple of hours...says late takeoff was due to ramp freeze...378.1 (I just had him landing at Andrews a few minutes ago.)
0935: Willow Grove A-10s at Bollen Range using callsign SANDY...four of them...237.2 (That's normally their transit callsign so they might be heading off somewhere upon completion of range activity.)
0939: SANDY flight working interflight...143.75
0941: SANDY 2 and 3 talking about having contact with CUJO and he has hostiles near him, etc...simulated details of Close Air Support mission, including lat/longs of CUJO, while at Bollen Range...237.2
0944: Army 10301 (UC-35B, 01-0301, PAT) off from Andrews...118.95

ATTENTION DAVE
0953: SANDY 1 calls Bollen Range controller BALKY and says they're leaving to the north to The Duke and to the tanker...237.2
0955: SANDY flight with ZNY-Williamsport...descending to 14,500 feet...338.3
Apparently not all the SANDYs have left Bollen Range...still a couple of them working there with WARCRAFT....237.2

Time for toil in the sun...back later.

SANDY 1 was 81-0981 and was working with both STEEL 11 and STEEL 12 on 259.40. SANDY 2 came up a bit later to get a quick hookup with STEEL 11. STEELs were interflight using the 293.70 Freq.

Home early this afternoon 1220pm local to hear CAP active with Langley F-22's 1st FW refueling at speed 310knots with Tanker 11 on 228.900.Gave tails as RAPTOR 75 #04-4068,RAPTOR 76 #05-4080.
Also heard Huntress active on 260.900.

1530 local ROCKET 203 flt of 2 with ZNY 353.500 decending from 21k to 15k.
Could be T-2C, Pensacola VT-86 headed for New York also as some fleet week activity possibly.
Or could be for MIllville airshow.

This is only the second time the F-22As have manned this CAP. The first time was in January 2006 when they were last minute replacements for a flight that was delayed due to weather. That time they were RAPTOR 07 and 08. When they had the CAP over the Coast Guard Academy a couple of days ago, they were RAPTOR 65 and 66.

TANKER 11 is a KC-135R, tail 62-3542, from the 77th Aerial Refueling Squadron at Seymour Johnson AFB SC. He's flying the track at FL 240.

Those Raptors sound SOOOOO good. They've got the best transmitters in the entire Air Force fleet.

Not used to hearing the CAP fighters taking so much fuel...RAPTOR 75 just came off the boom at 1314 after taking 10,400 pounds.
RAPTOR 76 off the boom at 1346 after taking 9,000 pounds.
I understand the Raptor holds a tad over 20,000 pounds in its tanks.

By the way, those two KC-135Rs that I mentioned earlier leaving Andrews around 0900 turned out to be DC 51 and DC 52. They are back in the Andrews area just after 1300.

1310: REACH 2285 (C-130H, 92-3285, 328th AS Niagara Falls NY) to Griffin Command...10 minutes out, A-1, IDs as a C-130, 8 crew members, no pax or cargo, will RON, needs 20K of gas and parking...378.1

Hate to have to leave during a Raptor CAP but must. Brian, I hope you're still around to detail anything unusual - especially since you have copy on HUNTRESS.

1538: TANKER 12 trying to contact HUNTRESS on the boom freq 228.9. TANKER 11 is now telling HUNTRESS on 260.9 that, "they tried calling you once."

TANKER 11 is a KC-135R, tail 62-3542, from the 77th ARS/916th ARW Seymour Johnson AFB SC.
TANKER 12 is a KC-135E, tail 57-1496, from the 132nd ARS/101st ARW ME-ANG Bangor.

1540: TANKER 12 now makes contact with HUNTRESS on the correct freq and reports at FL 240...asks if they should go to FL 250 until the other tanker leaves the area...they should and do...260.9
Currently, RAPTOR 75 and 76 are taking their last fuel load from TANKER 11 before he departs for Seymour Johnson. They indicated their tour will be up at 1630 local.
1544: TANKER 11 working his clearance to Seymour Johnson through Richmond with Potomac...135.525
1548: TANKER 11 has his clearance and reports departing the area at FL 240...260.9
1549: TANKER 12 coordinating descent back down to FL 240 now that 11 is out of harm's way...260.9
1555: RAPTOR 75 given a TOI and then quickly gets the "skip it" command...260.9
FIDL=Fully Integrated Data Link

1600: TANKER 11 calls LIGHTHOUSE Control (Seymour Johnson Base Ops) with arrival message...15 minutes out, has 40K of fuel on board, 1 writeup - offload totalizer inop...offloaded 56K of fuel to two F-22s...don't need transportation, just parking...311.0
1608: RAPTOR 75 decides he needs more fuel...heads for TANKER 12 on boom freq...228.9
The reason he needs more fuel is that their shift has been extended by 30 minutes.
1616: RAPTOR 75 to Potomac requesting flight level 220 direct Langley when replacements show up...350.25
1616: RAPTOR 76 to TANKER 12...228.9
1616: RAPTOR 75 tells HUNTRESS a weather cell is continuing to grow and should push into the airspace in about 1 hour...260.9
1620: TANKER 12 asks RAPTOR 76 for their tails and 76 gives them as 05-4068 and 05-4080. I guess he's wrong about the year on the tails - should be 04....76 also tells 12 he isn't hearing the tanker on the interphone...takes 3,000 pounds...228.9
1623: RAPTOR 75 tells 76 their replacements are airborne...260.9 (and I hear them currently with ZDC-Franklin on 290.425)
1629: RAPTOR 75 gives a PIREP to HUNTRESS concerning the wx buildup...says it may affect the CAP sooner than an hour as previously noted...within 20 minutes the northern 10 miles of the CAP will be unusable...260.9

Federation of American Scientists (FAS) passes on a statement about Site R (Raven Rock Mountain Complex)
DOD ISSUES POLICY ON CONDUCT AT RAVEN ROCK MOUNTAIN

The Department of Defense has issued a new statement of security policy
for the Raven Rock Mountain Complex, also known as Site R, which is one
of the U.S. government's emergency command centers and relocation
sites.

Although it is located in Pennsylvania, not Virginia, Raven Rock was
legally designated in 2003 as part of the Pentagon Reservation, and the
new policy reflects that change.

Among other things, the policy dictates that "it shall be unlawful to
make any photograph, sketch, picture, drawing, map or graphical
representation of the ... Raven Rock Mountain Complex without first
obtaining the necessary permission."

The policy was published in the Federal Register on May 25.
