I am probably gonna be pretty lax in any postings for the next couple of days. But I will be watching the thread on/off.

Going to get these new soundcards installed here and there is going to be a big reorganization as to what radio is doing what on what PC. LOL. Figure it will go a bit smoother if I just have all radios off during the process before I get sidetracked everytime something goes active.

Things should be pretty sweet once I get through this.

Well, okay, if you must.
I have a couple of E-6 hits today but we'll catch up with what's going on there later once you've got your station in order.

The IFR Supplement for the period February 14 through April 10th was released today. So look for it on your favorite Admin's desk shortly - and then grab a copy.
*****************************************************
Couple of admin FAA releases today for the area...
The Approach/Departure freqs within Potomac TRACON have been changed for some local airports. The freqs haven't been changed - just the assigned freqs to use for those airports are changed.
For Aberdeen Proving Grounds/Phillips AAF (KAPG)...Frederick Muni (FDK)...Westminster Clearview Airpark (2W2) and Carroll County (DMW)...use 125.525/291.625 rather than 126.75/307.9. For Gaithersburg (GAI) they only seemed to swich the UHF freq from 307.9 to 291.625.

And, at MCAS Cherry Point, transient aircraft can only do "hot pit" refueling when carrying inert ordnance if they are types F18 or USAF F15/F16/A10.

The CASANOVA VORTAC in Virginia (often heard and used) has had a remark added for it as follows:
CASANOVA VORTAC UNUSBL 310-350 BYD 10NM BLO 11000FT
(I think everyone can translate that into English, right?)

A new airspace fix has been added in Virginia within ZDC...CIDPU.

Hey now. Don't knock it. The online PCR-1000 is going to be part of this overhaul as well. :p .

Please post whatever you may have on VQ-4 from today. I did have everything up and running till about 1700 hrs so all the audio from today is on the hard drives. I'll be taking break every once and a while to sift through that anyway.

Edit. Crap. As for the IFR and such I am off work all next week so won't be getting that one till I get back.

If you insist...take a look for 164410 around 1400. I was trying to give you a break but will gladly take whatever you can find for him. I'm not sure if he was coming or going from Pax.
OK. Will check that out. Maybe later on tonight after I get sick of being behind the desk.

So, I went to dinner and learned that E-6B, 164406, was in the Pax area at 1921. Add to the list if you find the time.

2145: E-6B, 164410, coming out of New Jersey and heading across the Delaware Bay - probably heading for Patuxent.
2200: 164410 over Vienna MD at 9000 feet heading into Pax.

Here's the picture I took of the CAP area from the flight map. The basic map is a Sector map within ZDC. I wish I could post it at real size so you could read all the map details.
Do you remember the weekend the Raptors had the CAP duty and that one flight leader kept saying they didn't realize the tops of the track area were rounded? I presume it was because he had the portion shown by the dotted lines showing on his datalink map and not the area including the 20 nautical mile diameter areas around Camp David and the White House.

I won't have anything on this one at all. I had already started shutting things down and undoing connections. I am basically tearing my entire setup apart and putting it back together trying to work my "lessons learned" into piecing it back together. Kind had to do it this way in order to reorganize to take better advantage of the addition of the 2 new souncards and 4 more scanners.

Once I am done the reassembly phase and verify all connections are good then I get to start moving scan files around and organizing those. I'll be about a week. But hopefully before the weekend is out at least the hardware portion should be done, tweak and behind me.

Glad I took off all next week though. Looking forward to playing with this setup with a focused effort to see just what I have done.

Thanks Alan for the picture and also thanks to Mike for adding it to the wiki!!

WOODEN is a static Coronet West tanker callsign.

Hope this helps,

René.

Hey Rene...good to see you here. Jump right in whenever you have the urge. Your comments will always be welcome.

Alan

P.S. I can't spell your name correctly here. I don't know if other web browsers will allow it (they obviously do since you used it) but I use Netscape and it won't allow use of the acute 'e' in this forum. Strange.

Euro guys had this REACH 296 back on Jan 3rd eastbound as C-17 #00-0176 but may not be the same.

Mark

Ironically enough caught the tail number C-17 #00-0176 last night...Callsign was REACH 493 and about 950PM Local was in comms with ETHYL 61 (59-1467, 171st ARW Pittsburgh). They were on AR Freq of 305.50 and were going to rendezvous at STOOL at 03:30 UTC......

Sorry, should have read your post above.......my bad. Man, you guys really do a great job catching the action.

Alan did you catch that tail?

ETHYL 61 self id KC-135 #59-1467from 171 ARW Pittsburgh enroute Nantuckett eta 0340z for AR on 305.500 Was a 92nd ARW tail in my old KC-135 log but 171 now obviously.

The first question you probably saw the answer in my recap log.
06-6164 RCH275 23:36:20 C-17A 21st AS/60th AMW

The second comment reminds me again of the big bunch of new assignments for the KC-135s around the country. As I mentioned recently, an 'R' type has been assigned to the 108th at McGuire from the 22nd ARW and more are coming. I've probably noted a dozen other new assignments over the past month. Selfridge has picked up a couple and lost a couple, Bangor has some 'R' types that have moved there. A bunch are leaving Robins for other bases. The Air Force is playing "Shuffle The KC-135s" so watch for more of those.
********************************************************

It has been a fairly quiet day. A few REACH transports moving around, a tanker or two, an E-6B (164410). The only one that was a bit different was EVAC 48153 - a C-130J, 04-8153, from the 815th Airlift Squadron AFRC at Keesler AFB MS.
At 1312, I have what is probably a Navy tanker reporting 10 minutes out and looking for a parking spot on 303.125. This is an AR-18V Cherry Point freq. No callsign heard.
CRAB 51 (C-130J, 97-1351, 135th AS MD-ANG) is on his way home. Heard at 1300 with Chicago and then Cleveland Center as reported elsewhere. Should be here soon.

1351: TROUT 99 (EC-135, 412th Flight Training Squadron, Edwards) departing Andrews w/TRACON...118.95
1351: SAM 2140 (C-40B, 01-0040, 1st AS Andrews) doing the same.

1405: REACH 9008 (C-5A, 69-0008, 105th AW NY-ANG) to RAVEN Ops at Martin State...20 minutes out out, IDs as a C-5 with "a lot of stuff for you guys."...would like to have someone standing by for Customs...125,000 pounds of stuff to offload and would like just under 40,000 pounds of fuel.."Is that going to be a problem?" No problem says the ground controller and they'll be standing by for the C-5....adds that the loadmaster would like a powerlifter standing by...347.2 (I've never heard a C-5 going into Martin State Airport. This is a first for me. Runway 15/33 is 7000 feet long.)
I see about 40 different logs for this aircraft from European monitors starting in Germany and last heard in the UK at 0837Z this morning. This indicates to me the 104th FS is returning home from their rotation to the desert and this is their "stuff" coming home. Some reports had the A-10s coming home two days ago but diverting to another base because of the snow. If so, I haven't heard them returning to MTN - but, then again, I don't have the radios on 24/7 even if it seems that way.
1416: REACH 9008 to Martin State Tower about 4 miles out...reports gear down...cleared to land...121.3
1417: REACH 9008 to RAVEN Ops to advise them they've been cleared to land...347.2 (RAVEN Ops very loud and clear today)
1420: REACH 9008 is on the ground at MTN...121.3
1425: RAVEN Ops talking to REACH 9008 on the ground about meeting Customs...347.2 (Can't hear the aircraft at this point - just ground)
I didn't hear them make any use of Ground Control frequencies 121.8/253.4
1435: RAVEN Ops still talking to REACH 9008 on the ground...didn't catch that last conversation - wasn't expecting it...347.2

1437: REACH 8057 (C-17A, 98-0057, 62nd AW McChord) to Andrews CP...15-20 minutes out, A-2 for brake temperature indicator, 11 pallets and 43 pax, need parking and Customs...378.1 (Last heard in the UK at 0853Z this morning)

NOTE: CRAB 51 is not coming home to MTN just yet. He's arriving at Bangor around 1415.

That's all from me. Got to get some errands done.

I've got JEST 21 talking to RUMMY 71 [KC-10A 86-0029] on the way to Hawaii here.

Guess we now know what that RUMMY callsign is for. Nice addition to the RUMMY 82 KC-135 heard earlier and posted on other boards. Guess there's also an 81 and 72 out there somewhere.

Adding RUMMY to Coronet West callsign list - and JEST if I don't already have it there.
