Guys,

Those of you with the boxrs---I've had a couple of strange ones today.

Around 1100 had Top 611 working ZDC (133.9) declaring he was direct to New River NC

Around 1230 or so had Top12 with ZDC (133.9) saying he was enroute to PAX.

Did you guys get anything on these guys?

I had TOP 11 several times in recent past doing touch and go's at Dover and
Atlantic City also on VHF and sometimes they request UHF.Self id as E-2C from VAW-123 "Screwtops" at Norfolk NAS.
Never heard a 3 digit TOP before. Never had one show up on RB yet either.
Those E-2C's are like most fighters and don't show visible mode S.
Think they are in between carrier deployments now.Last was on the USS Enterprise.

Off topic: Aircraft trivia from Aero-news Network... I never knew this.. Thats a lot of aircraft!!!

Bloomberg reports FedEx is expected to announce its US express and freight numbers are off by as much as 10 percent over the same period in 2007... and that may be just the beginning.
In addition to some 1,100 job cuts already announced and closing its less-profitable FedEx Office (nee Kinkos) printing shops, FedEx may also park more its 80 Boeing 727 Freighters. FedEx had planned to ground five of the fuel-thirsty tri-jets in 2009, and 40 more over the next three years. Those numbers are probably conservative.

The company operates the world's largest fleet of aircraft, with 672 planes of varying stripes. The B727s are among the oldest in its fleet, averaging 29 years old

A Martinsburg C-5 69-0011 departed MRB a few minutes ago.
1951- 69-0011 is back. Climbing from 6700ft.
2007- DECOY-99 69-0011 inbound to DOV. Will be returning to MRB later. 349.4 Out of my range now too.

New Zealand Air Force NZ751 was in the area a little while ago.

2022- Just as I suspected. The E-6B was heading to AR636. 238.9 They are meeting with TEAM-58 KC-10 63-0081. 164388 will be then heading to Orlando Norfolk> Wilmington>AR15>HIBAC>SeaWorld1>MCO.

2058- AN-124 RA-82046 is overhead af FL320. VDA9543 Heydar Aliyev (UBBB) to Charleston AFB

That MRB C-5A went out as DECOY 99 but had changed his callsign to DECOY 11 by the time he was back in the area around 2000. (Both noted Mode-S only)

The Royal New Zealand Air Force B757 was displaying RAYTHEON in his callsign block. It must be here for some kind of testing with them or to have something installed by Raytheon.

The TEAM 58 was really OPEC 49 (83-0081 rather than 63-0081 but I know that was just a typo). He's been displaying TEAM 58 since he flew last Friday - when 5x would fit.

When that Volga-Dnepr AN-124 came through, I had to look up that airport after finding it on FlightAware to learn it was in Baku, Azerbaijan. UBBB didn't ring any bells for me.

From the log, it appears it was a busy and interesting day. I didn't get to spend more than about five minutes at the radios today, unfortunately.

I should also mention that I had E79E79 hex on the log last night. That's not a valid hex code but it's an F-15C from the 71st FS at Langley. If you convert that bad hex code to an octal, you get 71717171 which is kind of neat. It has also displayed callisigns EAGLE 71, IRON 71 (IRON Ops is their squadron callsign), and a couple of days ago on the 16th was showing IRONMEN. I've been noting that hex since this past June but it took a few times to figure it out.

Guys,

VHF/UHF in my area is virtually dead today. Even the Coasties are very quiet. They conducted their normal 0800 radio checks but have been silent since.

Yes, indeed. This is all I've logged today....

Guys,

Did a little listening this PM. Did have a couple of the NGTF guys active. N160W (T-39 Sabreliner) was working w/Giantkiller on 118.125 prob in W107/W108 and a little later had N164W (BAC-1-11) on the NGTF discrete 123.225 as he finished up some work. Brave dudes to be flying in this lousy wx.

Only good thing about the wx today is that we don't have to shovel rain :)

By the looks of it AMIRI7 may be on the way out of IAD shortly. Currently sitting around the cargo ramps near the center runway at 290ft.

Sounds like there are departure delays. Someone is talking to clearance, their wheels up time was 30 minutes ago. They still haven't boarded.

1800- GAF388 A310 10+21 inbound to IAD.
1804- With approach 125.8. He's coming in from the west.
1802- E-6B 164410 is east of RIC at FL170 heading NE.

1945- ADFDB3 (AVIONICS) is showing up at FL180 and descending.
1953- Down to 10750, as far as I can tell it's going into ADW as well as it's tracking.
1955- TROUT-98 for ILS 1R. 119.85 At about 8k. I figured it was TROUT-98.

Here lists 61-2668 C-135C as being with the 89th Military Airlift Wing Air Material Command "Speckled Trout" Avionics Test Aircraft
And pictures here http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?regsearch=61-2668&distinct_entry=true
:) Makes sense to me.

Those pics go back to 1987 and 1991 so I doubt that is our TROUT-98.
I think TROUT-98 is smaller type pax high flyer but I could be wrong as well.

Other different callsign tonite I heard was calling Andrews 20 times on way in at 2225z
CHOCK72 00-9001 C-32B 227th SOF McGuire 2008/12/20 00:32z

That 378.100 Andrews radio is getting real bad.Seems pilots can't hear ground but
ground can hear aircraft at times.

I agree. I don't think our TROUT 98 has any association with TROUT 99, the EC-135R from the 412th FLTS (63-7980)

CHOCK 72 is kind of strange that they're keeping it so long. If the 227th doesn't use their squadron call TERRA, they usually go to the one-time call book. The 00-9001 guy has been using it over several flights since December 6th. Earlier in the day on the 6th, he used CHOCK 71 on the outbound flight and 72 on the return and then has kept 72 ever since. He came out of McGuire today, ran down the coast and started calling on 378.1 just as he got to Waterloo. Like you said, he must have called 20 times. He finally gave up about the time he was on approach to the runway at Andrews.

Could be him.

Wonder if Santa's sled has full mode ADS-B? :)

Any idea on AE1720? It's been at FL90-100 for quite a while now. I haven't been able to find anything with ATC.

RC-135W 62-4134 in the area at FL310 with ADS-B. In far northeastern NC. SAME-40
1336- Figured SAME-40 would've been long gone by now, but it's currently southbound over R-4006.
