Isn't that just their fractional company, Citation Shares?

You mean the FIV guys? I see plenty of those. Nope. Ownership shows as "Cessna Aircraft Company" of which I normally see very few in this area. Most Cessna jets show as being owned by individuals or businesses that appear on my log. Perhaps once a day I'll see one owned by Cessna itself. The past two days I've probably seen 20 each day. Maybe they're moving them for safekeeping while they announce the promised layoffs and firings promised for this week. Or maybe it's pure coincidence.

(And right now N42ND, a Cessna 560 owned by Notre Dame showing up on the ground at BWI which doesn't fit my topic but I like the logo I have for it.)

I've also kept the old VHF SHARK Ops freq 141.9 in there although can't remember the last time I had it active. Do you know if they've kept that one too? Or has 138.55 taken its place?
Last time I posted any activity on that freq was summer 2007 with the A-10s ..... I'd say no longer used by 103AW ..... but someone *else* may use it.

Ed,

May have also been doing some surveillance of the New England area nuclear power plants to check if they were emitting/leaking any radiation. They do that down here every now and then at the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant.
FWIW ..... Vermont Yankee nuke reported a leak of 'radioactive water' over the weekend

Don't get many Altus C-17's around here.

That guy from Indiana who bailed out in Florida has video of himself doing stunt down in Bahamas.

Plug in 288.0 if you don't already have it. I've had KC-135s with EC-130 BATONs there in the area of W-107. That freq seems to be used from offshore east of Patuxent up to the W-107 area. I've had a couple of aircraft refer to it as a "Blue 24" track although I've never seen it listed anywhere. It's obviously not a random track but isn't listed in any of the AR documents that I've managed to scrounge up over the years.

Guys,

For those of you in the IAD listening area. Got this off the Scan-DC list:

January 12, 2009
Dulles to close runway for overflow inaugural plane parking
Posted: 05:23 PM ET

From CNN's Mike Ahlers

Dulles airport is planning for a surge in private plane traffic.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Cars, limos and buses aren't the only modes of
transportation that will find parking at a premium on Inauguration
Day.

Dulles International Airport said Monday it will temporarily close its
newest runway to provide parking for an expected surge in private
planes during the big event.

The 9,400-foot runway known to pilots as 1L/19R will be closed from
January 16 to 23, said Tara Hamilton, spokeswoman for the Washington
Metropolitan Airports Authority. The airport is "guesstimating" that
some 500 private aircraft will arrive at Dulles, and the runway will
provide an overflow capacity for general aviation aircraft.

Some 300 private aircraft arrived at Dulles in 2004, the first
inauguration in which traffic was limited at the closer-in Reagan
National Airport, Hamilton said.

The airport opened the new $356 million runway in November. The
airport has three other runways.

Venus at CHO

Mornin' everybody. Caught these on Monday. Venus 93 doing practice at CHO. Photos are of the last turnout as they headed home. Timeframe was 13:00 to around 13:30 with multiple T&G from the pattern and several rnav approaches to rwy21.

Also saw what appeared to be a Nighthawk white-top make one low approach but didn't have a scanner handy.

Hope you guys are ready for next week!

0815 Hearing what sounds like fighter CHILL-22 eastbound on ZNY freqs high 273.600
at 41k then ZNY Elmira high 298.900 looking for a MAINE 85 tanker.
0824 CHILL-22 reports tanker cancelled and will be returning Minot AFB.
0824 CHILL 22 pushes back 273.600 ZNY North Mountain high at fl 410 heading home.
0829 CHILL on ZNY Milton 269.100 westbound. CHILL= B-52 from 23BS/5thBW Minot
They have to wear oxygen masks on B-52's? Thats why it sounded like fighter at first.
0836 CHILL 22 on ZNY Philipsburg High 306.200 checking in at fl 410.
0843 CHILL 22 pushes 307.320 getting weak.

Mark,

I caught him as well on 306.2 & 269.1 but never did catch his callsign---that mask made him hard to understand. Thanks for catching the callsign.

0805 local AE1214 at 8700 feet showing id 60-9825.. anyone?

Mark

See message #236 above. Had this posted:
I'm also currently displaying AE1214 showing 60 9825 in his callsign block but that tail number isn't computing on Scramble as valid. It's an unknown hex code in my system. Anyone have anything for it? It's flying at 17,000 feet and showing a Mode3 of 1636. On the log since 1152.
Beginning to descend at 1205
1215: This aircraft is now showing at 4500 feet. Hopefully, he's landing at ADW and I'll be able to get a callsign at least. Need help guys.
Nope...apparently not going into ADW...lost the Mode-S signal at 4500 feet which indicates somewhere else. That altitude is where I lose them at Dover/Pax/Wilmington.

There was a news story about one of Dover's C-5M aircraft (86-0025)...
The C-5M Super Galaxy completed its second and final Integrated Systems Evaluation test, flying a 56-hour, 27,000-mile mission around the Pacific Rim, including stops in Alaska and Australia.

And a frigid looking picture here - presumably when it was in Alaska...
