Mark,

One of the guys in Canada posted this:

8864kHz USB 1621UTC: HUNT 62 (C-17A #03-3125/305th AMW, 6th AS, McGuire AFB, N.J.) wkg Gander Radio with a position of 58N 030W at fl 340. (Westbound)
Doug,
Ontario,
CANADA

McGuire is snowed in according to REACH 8052 pilot and so is Dover
so HUNT 62 gonna have to divert farther south I guess.

Saw this one buzzing out overhead the house a bit earlier while shoveling out...don't believe the "official" snowfall total from Dulles seen in the media - we measured 25 inches in three separate spots on our property early this morning...

1741Z 118.675 PT A/D - EVAC 55139 (C-17A 05-5139 729th AS AFRC) - QSY ZDC-Linden 133.550 at 17K cleared to FL270.

Guys,

Here just east of BWI in the Glen Burnie Maryland area we have about 18-20 on the ground with some drifts up to 3ft.

Sorry to hear this Ron. For once, we did not get anything from this storm! Whew!

But, I'm sure I'll get clobbered many times over while you guys bask in the warmth!

Yeah, I measured 24" in Sterling and Leesburg and I've heard of people in Ashburn measuring the same. Deeper drifts in some spots, probably from the neighbor's yard where he didn't have much at all.

It's a rare day that I get to listen mid-day on a non-holiday weekday. I heard a 1st FW flight on 357.1 earlier, I think it was the MIDAS flight RTB.

Currently have a flight working on 276.675 and maybe some action on other freqs, too weak to make out.

I finally got around to re-sizing my Dulles Plane Pull photos. A zip with all of them is here. fileUPYOURS.com

Does anyone what these things on the tail of the A-10 are? The MD ANG bird had these but the Barksdale ones didn't.

I think thats the AN/AAR-47 Infared Missile Warning System. Being installed on A-10s, they are also supposed to be on the wingtips as well as the back tail. Basically tells the pilot the moment a missile is fired at the aircraft.

NASA 928 left area today for better climate perhaps.
FlightAware > NASA928

Heavies in and out of Dover,Mcguire were very slow today.
Lots of JOSA C-21's flying today but not many heavies.
Monday and still bad USAF runways, ramps etc due to snow/ice.

John,

When the old guy gets down here to Maryland he's better have some "internal" fuel as well---I suggest single-malt Scotch. It's colder then H- - - down here and we still have 1.5 ft of frozen snow on the ground. He's going to slipping on alot of roofs.

Anyone with an ID for AE01D8 displaying SAME40 (RC-135 callsign)? It had ADS-B. Start position was at 1025 local. End position was at 1202 local.

After doing some research I was able to add some RC-135 records to my database. That gives me two unknown codes for probable RCs (AE01D8 and AE01D9) and two planes I can't find a code for.

Yes I logged SAME 40 also.Callsign was used before with another RC-135 that went overseas
a while back like Tony said but different tail.
I have C-135's AE01D1 thru AE01D7 but nothing for AE01D8.
Could be RC-135S, 61-2662.
Logged him quite a while myself but wasn't home. 1540z-1655z.
FL33k to 34k. Rare full mode ADS-B like Hop logged for a mil heavy.
N37 55.0 W075 41.7 to N37 44.9 W075 56.0

Re: SAME 40

Hop,

The only other mention of SAME 40 with a serial that I see is this one from 12.20.2008:

62-4134

with a note stating:

:Hmmm. There's a SAME 40 up in GA now that's 62-4134 ... so maybe that's
a common callsign among the fleet?"

Author: Jordan Hayes...

Not that it helps you find out which one it is, but interesting note.

Tony

According to Airframes mode-s for that tail is AE13E5.
