Hey all... I posted about a month ago or so about this issue and hasnt changed. All of my foothill fire, yuba county sheriff,Marysville PD CHP ect have disappeared from my scanner's. If I go into town i get them just fine but when I get past Hallwood I drop everything in Yuba County...Weird ? I have 800mhz antenna's on all my handhelds,a 7ft external on the roof for my base station....Any suggestions?

Your master site
You use an 800 antenna to listen to Low-band, VHF and UHF?

For your base station, is it possible there's an issue with the antenna or the connection to it?

I bought alot of my scanners second hand and the 800mhz antenna is what was on there so I figured thats what was suppose to be there. They received those frequencies throughout the summer and then tward the end of summer .... nothing from the area that I live in.My rooftop antenna gets everything I really dont care to monitor,Oakland,Sacramento,Chico and Ive even gotten transmissions from Redding.I live on busy Marysville Rd where CHP County Sheriff and BiCounty Ambulance are several times daily rolling code and I never hear whats going on,As long as Im awake I have a scanner with me LOL

i would try the radio shack telescopic antenna, i use this on my handheld, i live not to far from your area, can listen to all you describe from my living room, no external antenna needed. hopefully this will help. i know your area can get spotty on reception, i worked at the dobbins school and have a psr 600 in my truck with external antenna.

I tried to use the shortie rubber antennas that came with my 300 channel units with no change.... The base unit in my truck does the same thing until I go to town. Can the Depts, county or city reduce output power or lower antenna's ?

Well, I can tell you that nothing has changed in the Yuba Foothills as far as repeaters, power, or narrowbanding goes. Foothill Fire is still wideband and still running off Oregon Peak (Tone 2). Smartsville uses Walsh Hill (Tone 7). Bi-County's frequency is run off Oregon as well.

Based upon that, I suspect that the problem lies in your antenna systems. I know that there are parts of Browns Valley that have crappy reception, but I would think that in most places Oregon Peak should blow out your windows.

Ive raised and lowered, turned stood on one foot kinda thing with my roof antenna.... beside the telescopic are there any other suggestions for antenna's ? I find it kind of a bummer that I cant hear my local frequencies since there is alot that goes on around here especially in the summer with collins and bullards being not far up the road from me... Thanks for all of you help and suggestions guys It is appreciated
