I'm fairly new to scanning but have picked up on the ten codes. However, i was listening the other day to the SPD and heard an officer mention Code 4. I don't remember the context it was used in. I've heard of 10 codes and signal codes but never code codes (lol). Any help would be appreciated.

Hopefully someone from Stillwater will chime in (paging K5MAR :lol:), but *usually* Code 4 is a way to let co-workers know that you're secure or everything's alright, etc.

example: "123 to headquarters, I'm code 4" or "123 to dispatch, the situation is code 4"

SPD traffic

Code 4 in Stillwater is everything is 10-4 or alright. They also use a couple of other oddball or different 10 codes for different things. 10-99 is bathroom break (either one...lol) and 10-10 is meal break

Thanks! So is Stillwater similar to OHP? I've noticed a few similarities.

Yes, Stillwater PD's 10-codes are very similiar to the OHP's. Signal codes are as follows:
Code 1 Respond no rush (not generally used)
Code 2 Prompt response without lights & siren
Code 3 Lights & siren
Code 4 Everything ok
Code 5 Send backup

One of these days, if I can get my old computer revived, I'll have a reasonably complete list of 10 and signal codes to contribute. Right now, it's in a proprietary file format that I haven't located a reader for.

And yes, HBO is Handled By Officer. SPD is very fond of acronyms, dating back to when I worked there. Most are well known, or easy to figure out.

What type of file format? I can see what I can find for you.

GeoWorks for the PC. The file extension is .ooo Even the Geos people on Yahoo said my only choice was to get the old computer up and running, a 100 MHz machine from YEARS ago. Geos was a GUI OS similar to Windows 3.1, started life originally as a Commodore 64 GUI, and was what the original AOL was based on.

BTW, PM received and answered.

Yeah I remember them using a lot of the acronyms. OSUPD did the same.

HBO=handled by officer
GOA=Gone on arrival
UTL=Unable to locate

These are just the

My favorite (unofficial) Code was "Code Z", that a Wewoka dispatcher would use to let her officers know that a caller was a mental case, or if she had a usual local "colorful personality" in the station with her.
