Stonington Police are dispatched on CLMRN. Their VHF is used a bit as a talk around channel. The channel is simplex, no repeater. The mobiles exist, portables are gone.

I think you may be hearing the fire-police. The fire service in Stonington, North Stonington, Groton & Westerly, R.I. primarily are on VHF-hi.
You'll find many agencies on VHF use 153.8300 for Fire Police. It is the national fire police common frequency. Groton Fire is now on CLMRN.

Does anyone know what the correct SITE is for Stonington PD. I downloaded the latest trunked sole for them but can't hear anything. I noticed the file has every site selected so I selected the closest one - Old Lyme. tried Kent Mountain too and also every site. Nothing ??

not sure why you'd expect to hear North Stonington on an ASR in Kent, but Troop E simulcast would be the appropriate site for that area.

Down there, use the Troop E and Troop K simulcasts. I've heard them on K as well.

Old Lyme is very very limited. You need to be on Troop E. Stonington is very deep into Troop E. They do come up on Troop K as well.

Hi again -- completely stumped here with trying to get Stonington PD. Using Troop E now and also tried Troop K but can only get the conventional town users not PD. I was able to until earlier in 2026 then stopping hearing Stonington. Tried downloading again from RR and uploading via FreeScan No options worked and i thought maybe FreeScan is the problem so got ProScan. Same results no P25. Using BC-996XT. Works at NJ QTH for P25 but not here -- can you give me some guidance or tell me where I can get help on this. I feel like an idiot - worked for Motorola for many years selling PD radio systems. Was an antenna engineer. Then in cellular world but never followed the digital transition for two way. Thanks in advance - 73 Pete W2PM (masesrom@gmail.com)

You cannot monitor CLMRN with the 996XT, the system is P25 Phase 2. If the VHF is still patched, that would be the only way that scanner could pick it up.

Ok thanks. Did they recently change to Phase 2? I was able to hear them last year and I think earlier this year. ??
