is it a data channel that is local or one youve found from searching. i had this problem when i first started trunking. but come to find out its one i found thru searching that i could pick up the data channel, but too far away to recieve the voice frequency.
If you have the system info incorrect (such as a UHF system with the settings wrong) you might get TGs showing up, but no sound. This happened with Travis AFBs system to me. Just had the base freq and spacing wrong. If it's 800 then this won't apply.
Is it part of a trunk system? If it's a conventional frequency in the scanner, and is really part of a trunk system and you're receving a private call on it, the scanner will stop but not decode it. Same if it's a data transmission. I've seen both on the local TRS. Even if you program the frequency as conventional, it will show 'Dg' and channel activity, but you won't hear anything. If you're in trunked mode, the scanner will ignore the activity.
BTW, it can't be an encrypted P25 transmission because the PRO-96 will try to decode it and you will hear audio - garbled audio, but still audio.
i dont own any rs scanners, but it could be a number of things; programming, digital, wrong system..., check the programming again, delete the whole thing, and start over taking your time, if that dosnt work then we can rule that out
