I live in Southern IL, Randolph county, and the Police radios, are 1 channel for the whole county. I walked in later in the conversation, but heard "Is Unit 'so and so', still on the phone with the Governor? No he is done. We are still waiting to hear back from the Army to find out what's going on".

After hearing that, what would you think? I went down to tell my wife, that there is strange activity going on. The first words from my daughter was "UFO Sighting!!!". Well I dont want to jump to conclusions, but what else, other than an aircraft crash, could it be? What would you think if yo overheard that on a police scanner.

Was there anything on the news that I missed?

(In my county there is a small Army National Guard Unit, Sparta, IL)

Wow that is awesome. And the fact that the Police recognized some form of Paranomal Activity, and I heard it on the scanner, well the tail end of it.

Rocky,

I would say that this was the source for the converstation, if you heard this transmission during the "sightings". Being that Hecker isn't too far from Red Bud and the Randolph county line, makes sense to me.

Anyone who has lived in the St. Louis area long enough knows this area is well knownfor strange "sightings". I myself have not seen anything strange in the sky but I have caught officers on scanners talking about sightings. I'd say at least once a year someone calls these in somewhere around here.

Anyone remember that sighting that was made into a few tv specials? Had the radio traffic recordings from CENCOM in St. Clair County to a millstadt officer and deputies. A bunch of officers spotted it all over the area. It traveled from Estl to millstadt, to highland or something like that.
