All of a sudden, my XTS 5000 has started to act strange on receive. Instead of nice clear audio, I get the audio in the background somewhat obscured by a Pulsing White Noise/Static. The pulsing is reminiscent of the interference patterns I remember when tuning a trumpet against a tone generator or when flying a prop plane where the engines or out of sync. I have reprogrammed twice to no avail. I have tried with Remote Commander mic and without. I have tried 3 different antennas. I have tried two different batteries (though both Impress Li-ion). I have tried it with scan on and with scan off. Nothing seems to work. I though most of the AGC settings where from transmit so not sure if that would help. And it happens on repeater and direct channels.
XTS is a VHF Model II and the display shows nothing amiss when this happens. The 'pulse' rate seems to be around 3 per second. It is not a squelch issue as the XTS only opens when it should. And I have 3 radios right next to the XTS that work perfectly. Transmit seems to work correctly. I am at a loss ... but am leaning to an alignment. Though why it would go from spot on to way off over the course of 1 day has me confused.
Any suggestions to try next? And potentially a solid Moto shop to do the alignment in Jersey Shore area?
