Strange signal

Around 1000hrs this am Sun, I heard what sounded like a recording played over and over again. This was on 166.125, the old USFS LE frequency.
I didn't think to look for a PL. It said "unit 22 camper". It was fading in and out, lasted maybe 10 min. Very strange.

I have heard entry alarms at USFS sites that say something like "(site name) door open" which get repeated a number of times over the air. I haven't heard it in a long time, but that could have been what you were hearing.

I've hears similar recordings as well here in the SF Bay Area although I don't recall the frequency but then it's been a while since I've heard one. I vaguely recall that they were on a trunked system.

Thanks for the input guys. I haven't heard anything on that frequency for years, that's why I thought it was odd,
plus the message.
