I decided to try saving my firmware files for the first time. When checking both versions, the sub firmware says 1.03.02 Firware but, the main says 1.23.03 PSREdit500_file? Scanners working fine. I uninstalled my PSREdit program and cleaned the 2 files left behind in the registry. Every time I write to a card it still says the same. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on? It's really strange when the PSREdit can't even be used to program the sds200.

The file extension, *.BIN, is used for PSREdit500 programming files. Windows associates that name with any *.BIN file, regardless of how it is being used, wherever that file extension is found. It got that tag when, somewhere along the line, you selected a *.BIN PSREdit500 file & told Windows to use that program to open it.,

That name (as displayed in Windows) has zero impact on whether or not the file is valid & it's usage.

If desired, you can change that in Windows by editing but if you do, then you may need to "reintroduce" Windows to PSREdit as the default app for your programming files. The firmware update process (in Sentinel) looks for the file name & structure of the file, and ignores whatever name Windows is trying to give it.

Well, it's good to know it is harmless. I may give it a try to change that I'm glad I've got some image files backed up just in case. Thanks for clearing that up for me. (y)

I never opened a .bin on this PC, so Windows does not know what to use and will prompt me (with suggestions) should I click on a bin file.

My Windows knows to open Sentinel when clicking on an HPE file.

If you search "file extension" in the Windows search box, it will show you all programs associated with each extension on your PC.

Each file extension known to your Windows PC will be listed in settings. Most will have a default program set to open them and some will not. Glad you're all straightened out. I hate hindering files :)
