Streaming audio to the internet

Is there anybody close by that could advise what is needed and maybe how complicated it is to stream radio traffic to the internet. I thought I might attempt it soon. I haven't noticed much of anything in Alabama being streamed to the internet. Looks like al.com tried it at one point, but all the links that I have found lead to dead ends. Thanks for any info.

The legalites of streaming has already been discussed at length .. so this is a non-issue.

Streaming is pretty easy once you get it set up. You'll need to have a broadband connection if you're going to serve it from your home computer, though.

http://www.scannerbuff.net used to let people serve streams from there but it looks like they have changed the permissions.

A great place to start is here... http://www.shoutcast.com/support/docs/ When you're live, people can see what you're streaming and connect to you from there.
