I live in a condo complex here in Middletown that is turning for the worse. I have a BC895XLT that I usually listen too. Lately we have had the cops here daily and I've just heard that street crimes are operating in our area and that guns are a big concern with some units very close to me actually one down stairs on the 1st floor is suspect in methamphetamine activity.

I am wondering if I picked up a new digital scanner would I get some more info on the activity in my area with possibility of recieving street crimes communications. The police wont tell us anything and even our property manager was told nothing when he approached the police other than "we are good" when he asked what was going on. The police have also just told us they will no longer provide us with police logs of calls into our condo complex.

Isn't that against the law. What about freedom of information?

If you go down to the PD, to the records division they can provide you with a call log.

However, it will be very limited information. All they need to release is the call number, time/date, address. I don't even think that the call type needs to be listed.

However, unless the case is under investagation or in the court process, it cannot/willnot be released. Case reports (usually other than a face page) will not be available until the court assigns a disposition to it and its transmitted to the PD.

Arrest reports will have time/date, call number, arrestee name, charges, court date and bond information.

Moving Van Might Be Your Best Option For Sure.

As Far As I Know, Middletown Is Not Digital, Cuz I Listen To Them Up Here In Tolland County, Comes In Quite Well.

Before You Consider Digital, Look to See What They are Licensed For, And Call The Moving Company ASAP

Actually I get the regular police quite well but I have been told street crimes uses special communications and know some communities have special units operating with digital communications.

I have a realestate agent coming next week to put my condo on the market and I believe a moving van is a better investment at this time.

I will forward the response about the police reports to the management and I am much appreciative of the responses.

I tell ya what, living in this condo haven (not heaven) keeps the scanner constatntly broadcasting.

Thanks

Chris

Hmmm ,If They are Digital, It most Likley would Be Low Power, Line of Sight Tactical Comms To Keep the Audience To A Minimum. Also May Be Encrypted Just Like Certain Freqs Of CSP. Damn Annoying To Catch The CSP Encrypted Stuff, But It Tips Me To Something's Going On & I Get Outta The Area Quick & Go Watch The News At Night To See What Happened.

Looking Through My books Duz Not Show Any Digital Freqs.

If You Can Get A Look At The Portables, Look At The Antennas & See How Long They are, That Will Give You A Start.

This One's Gonna Take You Alotta/Time/Research For This One

A Good Matter Of Luck Also!

Its called cell phones/Nextel. Middletown isn't that advanced/tactical unless they have Statewide Narcotics working with them.

Two-way isn't used very often, if ever on most street clothes investagations. Cell phones blend in nicely if your traveling by foot or car.

no offense but if the guy downstairs is being investigated, first, i'd look into packing up and leaving so as not to be in the line of any stray shots by mistake or otherwise. 2nd invest in a scanner so you can hear whats going on - hope the guy doesn't hear too well. and if memory serves me correct, 155.*** used to pick up pretty well in new haven area at least i think that was the old dispatch freq. anyways why take a chance and possibly tipping someone off for the sake of listening. I think you should just wait till they clean up the area before. just a thought.

when i come back and forth to storrs/mansfield, i get middletown pretty good on my 2096 on 155.3700mhz analog pretty clear, also i use to be a police explorer for meriden when i was younger, and we use to have meets at the daff fest, and the middletown police explorers where a few of my friends who use to come and help staff the event, i heard some horror stories on the ferry st area of downtown and a neighboor hood or 2 under the bridge, i heard it is getting pretty bad in that area, but i would get that house on to the market like an egg in a hott frying pan, it's getting over run with drug activity around the downtown area of middletown, it sucks, but that is every town, and there is problems everywhere no matter where you go, but good luck on getting rid of that condo, i would look in the Database, and look at the low power freqs, there are some freqs that are digital and some that are analog 800mhz that are used as tactical freqs, so good luck on finding what you need, just take a look in the state of ct area of the database,
