• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

StrongSignals.net is gone http://www.strongsignals.net/

This happened last year about this time. With the decreased traffic the site has received over the last year or so, I am curious if he will bring it back.

I hope so, Rich has some excellent reviews and other pages that have been very helpful to me in the past. It would be a shame to see it gone.

It is telling me "This domain name expired on 06/29/2006 and is pending renewal or deletion."

Did you hit your refresh button?

I still use it as scanning/receiver "reference", but much of it is becoming dated. I can understand why he doesn't have the time to spend on it and bring it up to date with all his life requirements. Much of the information could be put in a StrongSignals Wiki and the users could keep it alive. How about it Rich?

*sigh*

The truth can alway be found by talking to a DNS server directly via nslookup:
Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>nslookup
Default Server: somewhere.net
Address: 1.2.3.4

Server: somewhere.net
Address: 1.2.3.4

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: resalehost.networksolutions.com
Address: 205.178.189.128
Aliases: www.strongsignals.net

>
Bottom line .. strongsignals.net domain *has* expired and it is not routing.

If someone knows what the IP address of the webserver was before the domain expired, I am sure that it is still up and you can speak directly to it. Sadly, whenever all of these stale DNS records start expiring .. I'm sure that we will have a whole new round of "Why-O-why can I not get ss.net to load" threads.

Everyone that believes strongsignals.net is running - please stop trying to poke fun at those who tell you it is down. Is StrongSignals still alive? Yes. Does the DNS for strongsignals.net still point to the actual server? No. So if it hasn't expired for you yet, it will shortly. Has nothing to do with your IE cache / history / whatever, it's a domain issue...

He let strongsignals.net expire, and if he doesn't renew it someone else can swipe the name and point it to a porn site or whatever else.
